Primary responsibility is maintaining automated manufacturing equipment while interpreting plant priorities in the order of repairs and requesting appropriate resources when warranted. Associate must possess the desire and ability to learn and develop knowledge.
This position also provides mechanical/electrical production support, project support including parts and machine fabrication, troubleshooting and repairs for assigned production areas.
This job must be performed with diligence and attention to detail because of the significant safety and quality risks inherent to the position. This position will provide leadership through work direction, guidance, and training to departmental personnel. Daily interaction is required with other departments, BD plants and vendors.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Provide coverage to the plant by working shift schedules as required (May require working off shift). Maintain equipment valued up to $ 4,000,000. This includes troubleshooting, testing, adjusting, calibrating, replacing parts, etc. in a manner that will facilitate a safe and effective repair or install. Provide training and support for the production floor. Interpret plant priorities and respond and escalate as needed. Coach and train setups and assist them when needed with Safety, quality, troubleshooting, improvements and other training. Support syringe production and provide support for engineering and other departments as needed. Communicate and maintain a favorable rapport with team leaders, engineering, maintenance, and production associates. Works with minimum supervision. On-call for support and emergencies – on an occasional basis. Works with vendors. Communicate daily events, projects, etc. to their peers and the appropriate leaders. May include layout, fabrication and helping with project work. Work with electrical controls programmer/technician in various areas as needed for troubleshooting and projects. Assist with PM tasks and train new setups on all equipment. Must maintain regular, punctual attendance.
High School Diploma/GED required
Vocational/Technical School preferred
Associates Degree preferred
Minimum of 1 year experience as a Mechanic or EMT
3 years+ experience with related mechanical equipment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of basic mechanical drive systems including:
Gear drive transmissions
Prime movers – electrical motors, etc.
Ability to think logically;
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical/mechanical problems;
Knowledge of pneumatic systems including:
Ability to interpret schematics
Understanding of pneumatics and fluid logic controls and components
Ability to read schematic diagrams;
Ability to work with shop tools;
Knowledge of shop math;
Demonstrated customer service skills;
Well-developed interpersonal and teamwork skills;
Proven problem-solving skills;
Well-developed communication skills;
Ability to understand FDA and site regulations for change control;
Computer literacy with a basic understanding of Windows and Microsoft Office;
Mechanical and logical aptitude;
Must be able to use electronic/electrical test equipment including VOM, clamp-on amp meter, etc.
Must have knowledge of decimal system;
Able to interpret readings from indicators, micrometers and assorted gauges;
The EMT shall have leadership potential, striving to set an example for setups and other associates and will be highly motivated. EMT will set an example in the area of safety, following plant safety policies and ensuring others do the same.Desired:
Familiar with PLCs, displays, servos & vision equipment;
Training skills;Ability to work with minimal direction/supervision.
