Position Summary

  • Establish and maintain credible peer-to-peer scientific relationships with national/regional thought leaders and key customers

  • Serve as primary resource for clinical and scientific information to external health care providers identified product areas.

  • Provide key customer insights with recommendations to key stakeholders to impact medical strategic plan.

  • Support and contribute to overall clinical research strategy, safety and conduct of clinical trials of products and/or new indication for a licensed product.

  • Participate in the development and writing of Clinical Trial Protocols. Provide input to investigator’s brochure and interim/final CSR’s.

Job Description

  • Develop strategic partnerships with scientific, clinical experts and business partners (associations, government, etc.) based on cutting-edge clinical/scientific data and information.

  • Maintain close connection with Public Policy to support expansion of Point of care adoption

  • Prepare and deliver communications to educate audiences on disease states and Point of Care delivery solutions

  • Acquire and continually expand medical-scientific knowledge as related to the application of Point of Care testing.

  • Remain up to date within medicine and industry to be able to interpret and disseminate pertinent scientific and/or clinical data and evaluate new information as it applies to Point of Care testing and future trends in diagnostic testing.

  • Continually assess the healthcare marketplace (and competitive products); understand dynamics and provide medical-scientific support of Point of Care testing

  • Exhibit strong knowledge of relevant disease states, diagnostic options, healthcare environment, competitors; can articulate the medical and scientific value of Point of Care testing

  • Provide input into the development of and ensure the appropriate execution of relevant regional medical meetings (e.g. advisory boards, symposia, and investigator meetings).

  • Provide input into the development of local tactical plans & ensure execution of the plans at local levels.

  • Provide innovative insights and make recommendations from local level

  • Work Collaboratively across business teams, Managed Markets, Medical functions, and marketing while maintaining appropriate communication flow while sharing best practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess education/research needs.

  • Assist in the identification of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.

  • Design and manage BD sponsored post market studies, investigator sponsored studies and research collaborations in the area of infectious disease and point of care.

  • Actively participate and contribute to relevant management and leadership meetings and activities

  • Demonstrated ability to develop trust and integrity with peers, and others within Medical Affairs and commercial organizations.

  • Utilization of Effective Communication to adjust for multiple communicating styles.

  • Ensure the attainment of individual objectives and results that satisfies goals, team and business objectives.



  • Strategic agility and business acumen

  • Strong knowledge of scientific methodologies and clinical and/or laboratory medicine

  • Knowledge of clinical trials and ability to design studies, review and interpret data

  • Solid knowledge Patient Management and clinical pathways

  • Expert capability in IT systems including the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Data Management, synthesis and presentation


  • Ability to network/develop relationships with CMOs, KOLs and scientific/medical community

  • Strong competency in the areas of clinical study design, statistics, technical writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret and explain complex clinical and scientific information.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, presentation, written)

  • Demonstrated strong customer/client orientation

  • Demonstrated project and people management


  • PhD in Clinical Microbiology or MD Infectious disease.


  • Requires a minimum of PhD, MD strong preferred

  • Requires at least 3 years of post-graduation clinical experience (Clinical Microbiologist or Infectious disease)

  • Solid knowledge Patient Management and clinical pathways
