About the role
BD is looking for a highly talented Senior R&D Scientist who will be responsible for the design and development of new reagents for flow cytometry applications.
We are looking for a highly motivated person who will provide technical leadership to drive innovative solutions to a wide range of challenges in reagent development.
You are a self-starter and want to implement solutions that are efficient and complete to further improve BDs reagent portfolio. The candidate must have strong scientific training and can lead experimental design, independently evaluate or present material of moderate to high complexity to cross functional disciplines. The candidate must be able to work under general direction, but independently determine and define approaches to solutions. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who has experience managing project timelines, driving strategy and/or leading or managing teams.
Main responsibilities will include:
Designs, develops & assess feasibility of new reagent systems and assays using creative solutions.
Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Effectively communicate technical concepts/issues, project status, risks, and mitigations to cross functional stakeholders including preparation and review of protocols & technical reports.
Analyzes and presents experimental data of moderate to high complexity at group meetings and technical reviews. May present data at national scientific meetings.
May serve as the technical lead scientist on a project. Provides problem solving capabilities to difficult problems.
Transfer of new reagent systems and assays with proper process development into Operations.
Develops knowledge of BDB Cell Analysis products through training, use and competitor analysis.
Continues pursuit of cell analysis knowledge through seminars and webinars.
May provide training and mentoring to junior staff.
Participates in addressing corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.
Minimum Masters degree and/or PhD in a biological science discipline such as Immunology, Cell Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or another relevant scientific subject
Minimum of 3 years of relevant industrial experience
Experience in Flow Cytometry and customer workflows
Experience researching and applying scientific principles to create new or optimize existing laboratory procedures, with a focus hematology, immunology, and/or molecular genetics
Ability to apply creative problem-solving skills to novel or complex applications
Ability to critically evaluate proposed study designs and interpreting experimental results with basic knowledge of statistics, the calculation of sample sizes and/or estimation of statistical power
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with others in a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Effective project and/ or people leadership skills
Experience working within a regulated medical device industry with knowledge or experience in FDA submissions
Familiar with accreditation and guiding agencies for the clinical laboratory including CLSI, including experience in audits conducted by accrediting bodies.
Ability to train laboratory-based personnel at multiple levels of education and/or expertise
