Job Description Summary

The Associate Production Engineer leads the Training Program, Labeling Process, and supports Continuous Improvement as well as document update activities for the Manufacturing department at BD Mebane site. The incumbent is responsible for administer and manage the Production training program, as well as the technical aspects of the label room and process.

MAIN RESPONSIBILIES INCLUDE

  • Coordinate and oversee all Certified and Non-Certified Training sessions,

  • Monitor training compliance,

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a detailed training roadmap/plan for each production work cell and employee level,

  • Update and monitor training metrics,

  • Review training records/documents to assure compliance with GDP and with regulations/policies.

  • Coordinate and process label changes and updates.

  • Support department Continuous Improvement and BD Production System activities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead the Production Training Program by :

  • Coordinate and oversee all training sessions including New Hire Orientation, Train the Trainer and Train the Learner,

  • Monitor training compliance and update and monitor training metrics,

  • Develop, implement, and oversee a detailed training roadmap/plan for each production work cell and employee level,

  • Review training records/documents to assure compliance with GDP and with regulations/policies.

  • Participates in the design and or execution of Knowledge Transfer Activities within Production area.

  • Support internal/external audits related to training.

Develop and/or update Production Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

Manage and lead the label process by

SME of the labeling system (program and printers).

Becoming the main point of contact for label updates.

Promotes a safe work environment. Provides recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment. Follow safety procedures. Participates in Environment Health and Safety (EH&S) programs. Initiates a corrective action whenever a hazard is identified. Notifies the Production Manager and/or Supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to next level of management. Provide recommendations to support systems that continuously improve product/process quality and product availability, reduce cost, and increase production capability. Other duties as assigned by Production Manager.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.

  • Working knowledge on MS Windows environment software such as MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).

  • Technical and computer savvy.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Knowledge and experience in curricula design for training and development.

  • Knowledge in adult learning process.

  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISO and OSHA requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • AST (American Society of Training and Development) Certification preferably.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associate Degree preferably in Engineering, Science, Education; with a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience in similar position.

  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work under pressure; and must be able to deal with unresolved situations, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Must have good interpersonal skills, including effective written and oral communication ability.

  • Must be able to complete assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner and detect and resolved problems in the performance of those tasks.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly cross-functional team environment

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Prior experience creating, leading and/or implementing a training within industry preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Education.

  • Expertise in creating, leading and/or implementing a training program within a regulated industry.
