About the role:
As Intern, you will support BD Canada's Public Policy function, in a , part-time 10 hours per week. You're a hardworking and dynamic student who will work with the Government Relations and Public Policy Director, as well as teams across the company to promote innovation and growth.
You assist in the assessment of geopolitical trends, Canadian public policy, health policy and political landscape changes as it pertains to BD priorities. A key responsibility of this role will be to evaluate, interpret and communicate trends to support strategic business objectives.
You will work closely with colleagues across BD’s Business Units, support and inform the development of strategies required to achieve market access. This position requires a good working knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment, and ability to interact efficiently with teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conduct reviews of policies, guidelines and legislation changes related to government pandemic response, innovation intake, and other topics that related to BD technologies and solutions.
Review and synthesize data and findings from policy reviews to be used to inform strategic decisions by broader internal audiences.
Work in partnership with functional departments, including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Marketing to assist in developing compelling briefing notes for external partners.
Assist the GR and Public Policy Director in preparing for both internal and external meetings with government agencies, policy makers, customers and payers, as appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you require
Experience in extracting and synthesizing findings from policy reviews.
You possess effective analytical and problem solving skills, including generation of original and innovative ideas and solutions.
Effective oral and written communication skills, including experience in teaching and training audiences in new concepts.
Willing to take action, passionate about the customer, with effective prioritization, goal-setting and time management skills.
Effective soft skills; projection of professional image and credibility and work collaboratively.
Education and experience required:
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (Political Science, Global Development, Health Policy or similar health care related graduate program).
