The Market Development Manager will be an individual recognized for their contribution in delivering value to HCPs and patients within the Diabetes Care community. The successful candidate will become the foremost authority on the recommended use of Diabetes Care injection products across all customer segments including: Hospitals, Pharmacies, Diabetes Education Centres, Long Term Care, and home users. This role will also take the lead in the area of education and will help to develop and communicate best practices around injection technique for both internal and external customers.

  • Lead the development and ongoing execution of National and Regional Diabetes education plan designed to help BD fulfill its goal of becoming ‘Injection Experts’

  • Manage and implement KOL (National FIT and Regional) engagement plan - gain valuable insights and uncover opportunities where BD can provide value-added services (Opportunity Assessment / Strategy development / Execution), including activity on .

  • Provide Injection Technique education expertise and support to the Diabetes Care (DC) sales team in the field - Includes customer visits and education presentations to assist with key initiatives and projects.

  • Lead and manage all Diabetes Care educational initiatives and programs with BD (and establish collaboration opportunities with industry partners)

  • Represent BD with selected Diabetes professional organizations (CSEM, CDA/DES, JDRF) and develop relationships with key influencers and opinion leaders.

  • Assist with development of educational content to support Social Media/Web activities (ie. Diabetes Innovations and Diabetes Care website)

  • Develop a proficient understanding of the dynamics of the “diabetes space” – the disease, the patient, the array of treatments alternatives, and channel into actionable insight that can inform impact on the BD Diabetes Care business

  • Keep marketing team and DC leadership up-to-date on current diabetes market trends

  • Design and implement Diabetes training and BD product training programs for internal Diabetes Care associates

  • Liaise with members of the BD WW team (Medical Affairs/U.S./Europe) to share successful programs and best practices from other regions to inform educational activity

  • Review and keep current all BD HCP and patient educational materials. Works closely with the Marketing team for the development of all future materials as needed.

  • Supporting Institution strategy on the implementation and use of safety engineered devices in Acute Care and LTC

  • Diabetes Education budget and vendor management


  • A university degree is required preferably in Business, Life Sciences or related Health Sciences discipline; a MBA is an asset

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of professional business experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical technology field is required

  • Prior experience working with Diabetes products in Sales, Marketing and/or Medical Education

  • Therapeutic area and customer knowledge in Diabetes Care

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Key Opinion Leaders to gain key insights and develop educational content

  • Previous experience in leadership roles demonstrating coaching competencies is highly desirable

  • Results driven, innovative, assertive, strategic thinker, strong project and account management

  • Willing and able to travel approximately 20% of the time to support key education initiatives, and to attend diabetes conference and trade shows

  • Bilingual: French/English an asset
