About the role:
As an Intern, you will support the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) function part-time, average 25 hours per week. You're a hardworking and dynamic student who will work with teams across the company to promote innovation and growth by championing and demonstrating the value proposition of our products.
You will assist in the assessment and demonstration of the evidence-based value of medical devices and diagnostics developed, manufactured and sold by BD. A key responsibility of this role will be to evaluate, interpret and communicate evidence to support strategic business objectives.
Working closely with the Director, HEOR, and colleagues in BD’s Business Units, you will support and advise the development of future evidence and communication tools required to achieve market access. This position requires a good understanding of the Canadian healthcare environment, and ability to interact efficiently with teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conduct literature reviews to identify the strength of existing evidence that describes the clinical and economic burden of challenges that can be addressed with BD technologies and solutions.
Review and synthesize data from external data sources (databases, public reports) relevant to BD’s areas of impact, to be used to inform strategic decisions by broader internal audiences.
Promote development, approval and training of health economics tools
Work in partnership with functional departments, including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Marketing to assure that the appropriate health economic value propositions are efficiently incorporated.
To be successful in this role, you require…
Experience in conducting literature searches, and extracting and synthesizing findings from studies (including interpretation of statistical techniques and methods used).
Effective analytical/problem solving skills, including generation of original and innovative ideas and solutions
Effective oral and written communication skills, including experience in instructing and training audiences in new concepts.
Willing to take action, passionate about the customer, with effective prioritization, goal-setting and time management skills
Effective soft skills; projection of professional image and credibility and work collaboratively
Experience in carrying out HEOR studies using a range of standard techniques, including health economic models is an asset.
Education and experience required:
Bachelor of Science, Health Sciences, or similar program.
Currently enrolled in a graduate program (MSc, MPH, MHA, MHI, Pharm D, PhD or similar health care related graduate program).
