The Microbiology Specialist –will work alongside the BDDS sales team, BDDS marketing team, and the BDDS Clinical team to support and drive business objectives, account specific strategies and market development activities to enable the adoption of microbiology laboratory solutions with a key focus on IT Informatics (Synapsis), capital placements for Blood Culture, middleware (IT solutions), and workflow via Kiestra Lab Automation.

This individual will hold responsibility for driving growth within the Canadian market through:

Sales (90%): Actively Working with Sales Team

  • Early opportunity development at target stage – opportunity strategy, key presentations, demos etc.

  • IT Informatics expert, positioning during all stages of the sales cycle.

  • Positioning optimal workflow solutions for IT/ID/AST/Blood Culture/Lab Automation.

  • Owning Automation Simulation process

  • RFP stage – technical responses, demos/site visits

  • Post-sales support – middleware utilization where appropriate for new business growth opportunities

  • Training Sales Team on new solutions/platforms and training of new Sales Reps

Marketing (5%): Actively Working with Marketing Team

  • Develop and maintain collateral (presentations/tools) for the Canadian market in conjunction with Product Manager

  • KOL and reference site ownership – working with Product/Marketing managers on market development activities (Symposiums / KOL engagements / presentations)

Clinical (5%): Actively Working with Clinical Team

  • -Drive middleware utilization and adoption, post sales to enable a broader BD solution across the lab (post implementation)

  • Help provide Clinical team with sales positioning of

Expected 50% travel within Canada.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Technical/Clinical : Demonstrates high degree of understanding in growth based microbiology including technical aspects along with workflow and informatics. Has proven expertise within Canadian Microbiology laboratory market.

  • Sales Abilities: Demonstrates team selling skills. Proven success within a complex selling situation that engages clinical and technical decision makers (Microbiologist, Lab Leadership). Experience of selling technical, clinical and workflow solutions.

  • Relationship Skills: Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Builds constructive and effective relationships. Excellent communication skills. Maintains and develops a network of coaches within their customer base. Is able to lead within a matrix sales organization.

  • Business Acumen/Skills: Good understanding of current and possible future market trends, and how they might impact the Canadian market. Understands the drivers and organizational priorities within healthcare institutes and can discuss at a senior level. Has broad knowledge and perspective. Has the ability to create and articulate financial business cases to C-Suite level customers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree of higher in Life Sciences

  • Bilingual in both French and English

  • LEAN certification an asset

  • Seven to ten plus years’ experience in clinical laboratory-based experience (working / selling / consulting in Microbiology Lab environment)

  • IT Sales experience an asset.

  • Proven success in influencing decision makers.

  • Ability to develop and present sales/marketing collateral.

  • Proven track record of success working in a team environment to deliver results

  • Computer savvy - multiple software applications experience preferred.
