About the role:
The Operations Manager is a proven leader who is responsible for ensuring operational performance and service targets are met within the distribution and service centre facilities while maintaining effective cost control measures. The Operations Manager must be an excellent communicator, analyzer, capable of effective collaboration as well as having strong leadership skills. This key role is responsible for organizing, monitoring, and ensuring all operational and administrative activities within the distribution centre are functioning at peak efficiency. This individual will also work to facilitate effective and efficient communication between all functional partners internally and externally and monitor the space layout plan to ensure it continues to meet BD standards for new and existing business requirements. The Operations Manager will also hold our 3PL partner responsible for agreed upon KPI’s – working with them to maintain and/or improve these service benchmarks.
Key responsibilities will include:
Oversee all aspects of the distribution centre and logistics to ensure we provide exceptional customer service to both our internal operations and our customers.
Develop and coach a team of 7 direct reports by enabling associates to make improvements by helping them set objectives, by opening doors or breaking down boundaries, while keeping the ownership and responsibility with the individual where appropriate. Build organizational capability by creating an environment of learning, sharing knowledge, and encouraging cross business and functional interactions.
Develop strategies, implement efficiencies, and monitor the day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into company goals and objectives.
Track progress against KPI targets to be able to identify and overcome obstacles in the achievement of our key initiatives.
Develop/manage continuous improvement activities within the operations function. Actively engage in utilizing best practices to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Develop strategies to ensure growth of programs and identify and implement process improvements that will improve our efficiency.
Contribute to the creation and management of annual operating budget
Collaborate with our 3PL warehouse management team on issues such as facility planning, efficient workflows, and productivity measurement.
Manage the BD Service Centre to lead excellence in customer service and servicing and repair turnaround times. Engage and support the business leads on service pricing strategies and the coordination of product launches.
Strong business acumen with solid knowledge of finance, logistics, distribution, supply chain distribution and employee management.
Diligent and proactive results-driven personality.
Ability to coordinate, plan, manage, delegate, and oversee many aspects of the operation for optimum productivity achievement.
Extremely customer focused, detail oriented with strong leadership and communication skills.
Highly proficient working with Microsoft Excel and other MS applications
Excellent reconciliation, problem resolution and conflict management skills.
Must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including the capability to work across multiple functions.
Experience with SAP and JDE
Proven leader in managing, coaching, developing and motivating associates.
Education and experience required:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 10 plus years of equivalent experience within distribution, transportation, and customs compliance.
5 + years of direct P/L experience.
5 + plus years in general managerial equivalent roles.
Warehousing experience in a regulated environment.
Distribution, inventory, logistics and lifecycle management experience required.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Lean, Six Sigma, Quality Systems, experience preferred.
