Job Description SummaryThis role is responsible for implementing policies and processes to ensure a safe and healthy work environment that is in compliance with governing regulatory bodies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement and oversee procedures and programs to ensure Federal and State compliance with OSHA (including PSM), EPA, and SCDHEC. To include, but not limited to:

  • Industrial Hygiene Programs, including medical monitoring

  • Sustainability reporting

  • Review of engineering projects for compliance

  • “Right to Know” programs, including chemical inventories and reporting

  • Facility Safety Committee

  • Incident Reporting/Worker’s comp programs

  • First Aid

  • Hazardous Waste

  • Clean Air Act

  • NPDES Permitting

2. Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. This includes audits forcompliance with Federal, State and local regulations, corporate policies and Divisional procedures

3. Prepares reports to maintain records of compliance, site’s progress to maintaining a safey work environment and maintain reporting system(s) for data collection and trending

  • Complete required EPA/DHEC/OSHA/BD reports for Environmental, Health and Safety Programs.

  • Issue safety finding and trending reports.

4. Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

5. Manage facility’s Emergency Response and Incident programs; to include:

  • Leading emergency response team

  • Schedule and complete training and drills

  • Lead incident investigation and corrective actions

  • Worker’s comp case management

  • Incident reporting

Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience:

Professional Skills & Key Competencies:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities with minimal supervision

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections

Required Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform all essential job duties. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of three years experience in the implementation of environmental and occupational safety and health programs in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience interfacing with Regulatory Agency Personnel.

  • Strong knowledge of EPA, SCDHEC and OSHA (including PSM) Regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Safety Engineering or equivalent

  • Two years experience in a Process Safety Management site

  • ASP/CSP Certification

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables

  • Microsoft Visio experience

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge

  • Root Cause analysis

Additional Job Information:

  • Standard schedule Monday – Friday, 1st Shift

  • Due to production schedules and site audit and training needs, flexibility is required

  • Minimal travel to other company sites, as well as professional conferences may be required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

  • The employee must be able to wear personal protective equipment required to perform this job safely.
