Job Description

Purpose:

The National Upgrade team is responsible for leading and managing BD Pyxis ES, BD Pyxis Logistics and BD Pyxis IV-Prep software upgrades. The team works closely with organizational readiness, development and the remote deployment teams to develop upgrade processes on current and early releases of MMS platform software. The Project Manager is responsible to lead MMS platform software upgrade projects while managing teams in a matrix environment.

Overall responsibilities:

Home-based position with 5% travel for periodic meetings and training. The overall responsibilities of the Upgrade Project Manager include:

  • Support strategic direction of BD MMS and provide leadership to the National Upgrade team

  • Management and oversight of assigned upgrade projects

  • Use of all governance tools (scope document, project status reports, risk and change logs, tollgates, etc.), for all assigned projects, to effectively manage all projects

  • Close collaboration with Organizational Readiness teams to ensure alignment of implementation and GCS readiness activities and processes

  • Participation in implementation readiness project activities required to ensure successful release of

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, verbal and written, with customers, project teams and leadership

  • Demonstrate ability to lead project teams and act as an effective team leader for all matrixed staff participating in critical readiness activities

  • Drive, manage and monitor execution of key programs, strategic and continuous improvement initiatives across GCS and the implementation function, providing leadership necessary to achieve goals

  • Establish strong relationships at all levels within BD

  • Maintain strong industry and product knowledge

  • Manage time and resources effectively to meet company objectives

  • Provides constructive performance appraisal input through peer review process

Skills, Duties and Tasks particular to the job:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry-recognized project management methodologies

  • Possesses healthcare project management experience and demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies and relevant clinical and IT operations

  • Understands customer medication management workflow

  • Demonstrates an understanding of Implementation project governance expectations (scope management, tollgate, and risk & change management processes)Manages planning and execution of multiple Implementation Readiness projects

  • Manages matrixed project teams

  • Responsible for maintaining project schedule and timeline

  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and training for project team and peers

  • Able to communicate and effectively work across multiple departments (e.g. TSC, R&D, Organizational Readiness)

  • Demonstrates the professional and soft skills necessary to be an effective project manager

Job Family Summary

Clinical Operations Project Management is responsible for managing all aspects of implementation projects including project planning, timing and execution within the constraints of a budget, schedule and scope while minimizing risk, and adherence to established processes and methodologies.

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience

  • Project management or leadership experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience implementing and supporting healthcare IT software solutions, experience with capital equipment model is a plus

  • Understanding of organizational readiness processes and experience collaborating with R&D or product management teams

  • Specific knowledge of BD business highly desired

  • Prefer knowledge of hospital systems and procedures that integrate with BD products.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet BD’s auto safety standards.

  • Upon hire, must provide proof of, and maintain current immunizations and obtain additional immunizations appropriate for the facility which enables access to customer sites in order to perform essential job functions. Proofs must include: Hepatitis B, Influenza (current year), MMR (mumps, measles, rubella), Varicella (chicken pox) Annual TB/PPD (skin test), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis
