About the role:
As the Market Development Manager, Surgery, you will be responsible for defining the business strategy for the Surgical portfolio (Soft tissue reconstruction and Biosurgery), and translating it into tactical marketing programs that deliver tangible differentiation and value creation for the portfolio in the Canadian market.
You will be leading the market development activities related to the surgical portfolio, including understanding customer requirements, developing key opinion leaders, and driving growth into new market segments. Reporting to the Canadian Marketing Director, BD Interventional, this is a 14-month contract role based in our HQ in Mississauga, ON.
Key responsibilities will include:
Managing the surgical product lines within the BD Interventional - portfolio, which includes soft tissue reconstruction (hernia repair, specialized surgical procedures, fixation and biologic implants), and biosurgery sealants and haemostatic products to complement surgical techniques across, thoracic, cardiovascular and other surgical specialties.
Providing inputs into financial budgeting/forecasting and demand planning, and GP analyses.
Launching the process for managed products lines, including completing launch plans, pricing, promotion, and ensuring regional readiness to launch.
Identifying market trends, competition behaviours, and customer needs to maximize business opportunities and minimize potential threats.
Developing value propositions that resonate with customers’ needs and incorporate customer centric messaging in marketing activities.
Developing and executing against annual marketing plan and long-term strategic plans to respond to the needs of the Canadian market.
Support and participation in sales planning, opportunity management and customer engagements.
Ensuring that the Canadian sales team has appropriate tools, training and support required to enable sales and actively participate in sales presentations where applicable.
Developing and leveraging relationships with the global platform to ensure Canadian needs are met and to provide input for new product developments.
Driving market development activities, including development of a strong Key Opinion Leader (KOL) and association network.
To be successful in this role, you require
Bilingualism (English and French) an asset
Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen
Collaboration with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Ability to interact effectively with all management levels
Ability to juggle multiple projects under set timelines, set priorities and follow through
Strong Organization Skills and Entrepreneurial spirit
Ability to travel 25-50% within Canada and the US
Education and experience required:
Bachelor degree (business, clinical or similar preferred), MBA is an asset
5 years+ sales or marketing experience within the surgical industry, experience with surgical/ operating room preferred
Experience developing the market for a new product launch
