The Glens Falls Operation is known as Bard’s Technology Center and is Bard’s largest domestic manufacturing facility employing approximately 700 in a three shift operation. The Glens Falls Operation manufactures over 20 different product lines serving all Bard Divisions.

With minimal supervision, performs calibrations maintenance and troubleshooting for equipment and serves as a technical resource to support projects in a competitive medical device manufacturing organization.

Will support GFO site calibration equipment. Aid in calibration out-of-tolerance investigations & help troubleshoot issues with calibrated equipment.

Performs calibrations and related daily activities as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedure for Calibration and serves as a technical resource to support plant goals in a competitive medical device manufacturing organization.

  • Performs calibrations for all Measurement &Test Equipment in the calibration system and develops test methods to evaluate and validate new equipment and processes.

  • Performs set-up, maintenance and troubleshoots equipment that requires an understanding of manufacturing processes and the effect of electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical devices on the process and/or product.

  • Makes basic revisions to existing Calibration Test Methods and related set-up procedures to expand scope or clarify instructions, and provides technical support for developing new test methods,

  • Maintains and makes minor improvements to existing calibration scheduling, recall, and record systems.

  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work flow around production schedules, which includes coordinating with outside vendors for external calibrations, and schedules on-site calibration & PM services.

  • Contributes to improvements of quality systems and authors technical reports that comply with quality system requirements (CGMP, ISO, etc.).

  • Assists in maintaining department spending within established Budget/BVR limits

  • Provides training to new employees on Compliance & Calibration per the GFO Orientation program, and to technicians/operators in the care, use, set-up and maintenance of Measurement & Test Equipment.

  • May have to work some off-hours shifts. Minimal travel may be required.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

• Ability to understand and comply with FDA regulations, ISO requirements, and Bard Quality Systems.

  • Ability to understand and work on complex mechanical and electronic inspection, measurement, and test equipment.

  • Experience with data acquisition systems, and PLC controlled equipment is preferred.

  • Technical writing skills that include ability to generate protocols, final reports, CR’s, and task related procedures (TM, MP,IP, etc).

  • Ability to read, understand, and draft engineering drawings and schematics.

  • Computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel (spreadsheets), and Outlook.

  • Math skills with proficiency in algebra and geometry. Basic knowledge in statistics preferred.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships at all levels in a team environment, and when dealing with suppliers and customers.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to perform job responsibilities, and advanced organizational skills to take an active role in design transfer, product development, cost reduction and safety programs, while maintaining scheduled calibrations.

  • Flexible in regards to work and shift assignments. Some travel may be required.

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  • ASQ CCT, CQT or CMI certification a plus.

  • Experience with statistical software programs a plus.

  • Physics a plus.

Requires an Associate’s Degree and three years of technical training or industrial lab experience, or a minimum of six years related technical experience in Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing or industrial lab environment.

Occasionally requires light physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of light items (i.e. up to 40 lbs). May require some exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.). Occasional exposure to potential for minor injury or other health hazard requiring some precaution.
