Reporting to the VP-HR, MDS, Director - HR VAD-MDS is the lead HR executive responsible for Strategic HR Partnership to the Vascular Access Devices business group, and will work closely with the other MDS HR leader focused on the other three business groups (VMS, ISD and Injection) to ensure consistency of practices and processes. This is a critical role for the MDS organization, given VAD is the largest business group within MDS with revenues of over $1.6Bn, 4 platforms (PIVC, Central Lines, Advanced Peripheral, Vascular Access Technologies), two sites (SLC and Sandy) and a large number of functional associates. The incumbent will work closely with the VAD VP/GM and his leadership team (platform leaders and function leaders) to deliver a Talent, Organization & Culture Strategy aligned to the Business Strategy. VAD business consists of legacy Bard BAS business (SLC) and legacy BD PIVC business (Sandy), and has gone through significant changes over the last few months in terms of org design and new ways of working. Stabilizing the organization, cultural integration across the two sites, and facilitating VAD’s integration into the larger BD family will be one of the key deliverables from the role over the next 2 years. He/She will operate as a trusted strategic advisor to the senior business and function leaders and will partner them in developing people plans, executing strategic initiatives, driving org design & org effectiveness, and strategic workforce planning. He/She, along with the rest of the MDS HR team, will be responsible for creating and executing the people and talent strategy consistently across the business, and orchestrating the integrated delivery of HR support to the business platforms through the COEs and ASC while ensuring alignment with business strategic objectives.
Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:
Drives organization design, organization effectiveness, workforce planning and execution based on business strategy, across the three business groups. Works with business leaders to assess the organization capabilities required to meet strategic objectives, and the capability of the organization to maximize business opportunities. Plans proactively to fill capability gaps through talent acquisition and talent development.
Partners with business leaders to assess, build and shape an organizational culture in line with BD culture themes and MDS culture themes – Agile & Outcome Focused, Customer-centric and Innovative, Inclusive & Diverse, Growth Mindset and Risk Taking.
Supports leaders in establishing and monitoring appropriate workforce metrics and behaviors and related client strategy imperatives. Coaches and counsel leaders and managers on individual /team development, as well as talent management best practices.
Essential job Functions:
Leads and shapes the Platform Leadership Teams’orientation towards HR issues. Influences the team to introduce appropriate programs and initiatives, and engages the LT towards resolving issues appropriately.
Advocates and champions the new HR Operating Model, and ensures a seamless client transition as we enable the new model. Contributes to the development and deployment of the HR global design and all other aspects of HR Transformation.
