About the role:

The Medical Affairs Manager, Vascular Access Devices will r eport to the WW Director, Medical Affairs (MA). This position has the responsibility to provide medical, scientific, technical and customer support.

Provides authoritative guidance from a medical perspective to maximize the value of current products and processes for the respective platforms.

Responsible for reviewing promotional and educational material for accuracy; supporting consultant and advisory meetings; and coordinating grant applications for scientific merit. Works multi-functionally with Quality, Regulatory, Research and Design Development, Clinical Affairs, Human Factors and Marketing to support and guide the design, risk management, quality management, advertising/promotion and evidence generation needed to sustain Company business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical research and educational projects in Company areas of interest globally; support in the development of plans for future clinical studies.

  • Guides the design of clinical trials and registries globally. Ensure support for activities in clinical development by collaborating with the clinical operations group.

  • Direct the distribution of scientific and medical information to internal and external customers while meeting appropriate legal and regulatory guidelines.

  • Support VAD MA Team collaboration with the business groups and commercial teams in crafting and implementing Senior Medical Manager/ Director in appropriate strategic go-to-market models with business group and commercial teams.

  • Support the execution of contracts with KOLs across different therapy areas as needed, investigate new uses of BD’s products, and ensure collaboration with appropriate scientific societies.

  • Participate as needed as part of the crisis-management teams for marketed products, i.e. in case of field corrective actions.

  • Ensure relevant and appropriate responses to customer inquiries concerning relevant BD products.

  • Direct the regular review of scientific literature in partnership with marketing for key-products.

  • Continuously maintain “state of the art” level of knowledge concerning for the medical and commercial teams as to developments and trends in medical science relevant to the business.

  • Be part of an environment that stresses candid, and timely feedback relative to performance.

  • Continuously develop knowledge of regulatory, pharmacovigilance and quality assurance requirements in alignment with BD Practice Standards.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you require…

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work effectively in a constantly evolving environment

  • Excellent written/oral communication and computer software skills. Excellent presentation skills of scientific and medical data to small and large audiences.

  • Knowledgeable in the areas of regulatory, commercial and clinical issues affecting the pharmaceutical /medical device industry.

  • Demonstrate ability to identify clinical needs, evaluate product opportunities from a clinical perspective, and help develop strategies that leads to efficient development of such opportunities.

  • Working knowledge of safety reporting requirements for both drugs and devices.

  • Ability and willingness to travel 20-30% of time.

Education and experience required:

  • PharmD, RN, Master’s degree in a health field plus previous management experience is required.

  • At least 5 years’ experience in clinical practice

  • At least 2 years related experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry within clinical research or medical affairs is preferred.

  • Clinical trial experience with solid knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in completing work through effective goal setting and result orientation.
