Job Description Summary

Global Mobility Specialist (International and Domestic): Manages pro-actively a dedicated caseload of international and US domestic transfers, assignments and commuters based on BD’s Global Mobility Policies. Provides specialist expertise within the Global Mobility area, relocation, immigration, taxation and related processes to resolve issues or queries in a timely manner in regards international assignees and permanent relocations. This role serves as a key player in improving BD’s Global Mobility procedures and processes. Provides support to your Global Mobility colleagues in the US, EMEA and Greater Asia, HR, payroll and other stakeholders to ensure that our processes and policies are implemented consistently and information is shared effectively. The global mobility specialist works closely with external service providers such as relocation, tax and immigration vendor, coordinating their services and analyzing quality of delivery on an ongoing basis. Continuously builds understanding of the organization's processes, objectives, and challenges and their impact on the business

Job Description

The individual in this role acts as an internal consultant and subject matter expert to managers, recruiters and HR on international and domestic moves ensuring application of appropriate policy, standard procedures, and tax and immigration compliance. This individual will manage a caseload of mobile employees while creating a superior associate experience.

The position reports to Associate Service Center (ASC) Sr. Manager Total Rewards and will partner with the Mobility Center of Excellence (CoE) team, internal contacts for related functions in Benefits/Finance/Payroll/Equity, and third-party vendors.

The role is remote in the US preferably based in the Central or Eastern time zone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports and coordinates international assignments and permanent relocations and act as a point of contact for stakeholders (global mobility team, associates, service providers, payroll and other supporting functions).

  • Work closely with service providers such as tax consultants, immigration and relocation vendors to ensure high quality services are provided in a timely manner.

  • Help to gather and manage all relevant paperwork and processes as regards immigration / visa processes in cooperation with our immigration service provider, local HRs and business managers.

  • Assist with daily administration of mobility related tasks (review of vendor invoices, record keeping, initiating relocations, tracking and updating databases, etc.).

  • Maintain employee forms, files, data, and more with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity

  • Work with relocation partner on cost estimates, benchmarking, net-to-gross calculation

  • May prepare and review assignment and relocation related documents including but not limited to process maps, communications

  • Collaborates with associate and immigration vendor to ensure visa / work permit process is aligned to proposed start dates this includes ensuring family visas are also aligned.

  • Ensures data relating to mobility cases is managed with a great attention to detail and in line with governmental requirements (Data privacy, GDPR, etc.)

  • Audits associate benefits and works closely with associate and vendors to address any gaps

  • Manages Global Mobility workday transactions as needed

  • Understands key performance indicators related to own work and the importance of metrics in defining success (e.g., efficiency and effectiveness)

  • Other duties as assigned

Other responsibilities:

  • Partners with ASC management and Global Mobility CoE in a consultative and project management role to define and implement program delivery guidelines.

  • Identifies and recommends methods to simplify and enhance processes, procedures and technology utilization. Leads and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Uses employee data and other sensitive information to track relocated employees, relevant assignment information, and assignment costs and benefits.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • A minimum of 5+ years of international and domestic Global Mobility (in-house and/or consulting experience)

  • Experience working in a matrixed organization is desired

  • Excellent knowledge of tax, social security, legal, immigration and policy compliance issues

  • Expert level Excel skills with the ability to create complex reporting

  • Experience working with Workday and applications such as PowerBI desired
