As an Associate Director of Software Engineering within the MMS organization, you will lead the Alaris Software Development and Software Quality / Verification teams. As a key strategic and technical leader, you will lead a team that drives business growth, primarily through new products, while collaborating with peer leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities of this role:

Practice

  • Leads and directs large-scale, sophisticated, multi-functional product teams, responsible for all aspects of software design, development, test and delivery.

  • Works with managers, team leads, PO, PMO to drive and improve agile practices, maintains oversight of sprint and program increment plans to ensure quality and predictability.

  • Focus on continuous integration and test automation where possible.

  • Establishes and maintains discipline of objectively measuring progress, quality and team effectiveness.

  • Oversight on state of the projects, proactively acts on removing impediments and risks.

  • Accountable for product design for compliance with applicable safety, security, and quality standards.

People

  • Hire and cultivate high performing leaders and engineers, including offshore associates.

  • Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates, establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations.

  • Regularly evaluate team composition to improve efficiency and effectiveness; hold team accountable for deliverables and quality and continuous improvement.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to SW managers; lead by example to instill servant leadership culture.

  • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills, ability to speak to non-technical audience.

To be successful in this role, you require:

  • Experience of SW product lifecycle from concept, delivery, and maintenance.

  • Experience with various forms and strategies of software verification.

  • Understanding of medical device software development and design controls.

  • Understanding of continuous integration principles.

  • Experience deploying test automation strategies/tools.

  • Experience in managing outsourced contractors/partners locally and remote

  • Ability to mentor and guide top technical talent.

Education and experience required:

  • BS/MS/PhD in computer, electrical, mechanical engineering or equivalent degree required.

  • 8+ years of proven experience in various elements of full-stack software development, and hands-on coding experience in the past is a must.

  • Experience with electrical components as ADC, DAC, Stepper and DC motors, ethernet, 12C, SPI, USB, CAN

  • Familiar with RTOS such as QNX, SafeRTOS, SMX, OSE, etc.

  • Experience in management development labs and instruments

  • Experience with electrical components such as ADC, DAC, Stepper & DC motors, Image sensors, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN

  • Experience using Visual Studio and/or Linux build environment

  • Familiar with the software build process, build scripts, source control and release processes.

  • Experience in the complete produce lifecycle from early concept to transfer of designs into manufacturing

  • Knowledge in theoretical analysis, statistics, electromechanical systems and feedback control a plus.
