The Director, Manufacturing reports to the Vice President, Manufacturing and is responsible for strategy, planning and execution for the company’s manufacturing operations for Infusion Manufacturing. Reporting to the Vice President, Manufacturing – Medication Management Solutions (MMS), the Director, Manufacturing will coordinate all plant activities with special emphasis to insure FDA compliance, ISO 9000 registration, and ensure policies and procedures are in place to meet the directives of local, state and federal government agencies. (i.e. EEOC, GMP, OSHA, EPA, etc.). It will be the Director’s responsibility to establish a high level of expectation for all employees in the performance of their duties as it relates to ethical conduct.

The Director, Manufacturing is responsible fordeveloping production and resource plans that meet production goals in terms of safety, quality, output and cost. Develops best practices for managing, allocating and retaining resources in anticipation of strategic growth.Establishing aggressive cost objectives, capacity planning, attainment of production schedules, productivity and efficiency improvements, and the development and management of annual budgets and financial performance. This is a Leadership position, provides day to day management and oversight including strategic and tactical planning/decisions-making and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for manufacturing to ensure product safety and quality, customer service and cost objectives are met.

  • Development and deployment of strategic manufacturing plans that includes manufacturing site capacity, technology, process capability/controls, and talent optimization that is aligned with operations objectives, quality objectives, product requirements, and business strategies.

  • Ensure proactive engagement and representation of Manufacturing during product development cycles to ensure future products meet safety, quality, service and cost objectives. Development and deployment of a manufacturing plan that includes, manufacturing site capacity, technology, process capabilities/controls and talent optimization that is aligned with operations objectives, quality objectives, product requirements and business strategies.

  • Work in close collaboration and partnership with Business Unit and Site resources, Finance/IT, Human Resources, Sales, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain and Product Development organizations to optimize overall operational excellence.

  • Plan, prepare and recommend an annual operating budget. Establish and implement a monitoring system of plant performance to budget. In collaboration with Division Finance, support financial forecasting thoughout the balance of the year. Responsible for the accounting and reporting of all location capital assets to internal policy.

  • Provide leadership to ensure the facility meets all regulatory agency requirements on the local, state and federal level. All compliance programs will be coordinated with Division and Corporate as deemed necessary to ensure proper direction and adherence to internal policies and procedures.

  • Provide leadership to coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Education &Experience:

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Business Management, or Industrial Engineering Required

  • MBA preferred

  • 7-10 years high volume manufacturing experience required - medical device manufacturing systems or other highly regulated industries preferred

  • Significant knowledge of federal, state or local mandates

  • Prior experience in technical transfers, qualification, validation, trouble shooting, FDA inspections, process scale-up, and commercial operations support.

  • Experience leading high-throughput teams leveraging best practices

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • A flexible style which fosters the rigidity of management of a GMP facility compliantly while remaining flexible to the competing demands of programs

  • Must understand the needs of key collaborators and customers, and interact effectively intra- and inter/departmentally to achieve alignment and consensus

  • Demonstrated use of Lean and operational excellence principles and evidence of establishing a continuous improvement culture

  • Demonstrated leadership of people and complex projects with a strong track record of leading within a highly matrix organization

  • Travel - 25%
