Job Description SummaryThe B2B manager will report to the Global Director of eBusiness. This is a global role and will need to collaborate with product managers, sales, web developers, regional teams and IT to define and drive the overall B2B customer experience to delight customers and create a competitive advantage for BDB. Through thorough understanding of customers Procurement needs and BD technologies, the B2B manager will be responsible for driving the playbook and infrastructure/data needs to support the regions in establishing new e-procurement connections with customers and defining technical requirements to the company. From their global perspective, he/she will also coordinate and lead the B2B strategy and execution for multinational accounts. The ultimate goal of this role is to improve the customer’s buying experience and sales conversion in collaboration with the regional counterparts.

Job Description

The B2B manager will report to the Global Director of eBusiness. This is a global role and will need to collaborate with product managers, sales, web developers, regional teams and IT to define and drive the overall B2B customer experience to delight customers and create a competitive advantage for BDB. Through thorough understanding of customers Procurement needs and BD technologies, the B2B manager will be responsible for driving the playbook and infrastructure/data needs to support the regions in establishing new e-procurement connections with customers and defining technical requirements to the company. From their global perspective, he/she will also coordinate and lead the B2B strategy and execution for multinational accounts. The ultimate goal of this role is to improve the customer’s buying experience and sales conversion in collaboration with the regional counterparts.

Responsibilities

  • Understand all relevant e-procurement technologies available within BD (punchout, e-invoicing, e-catalog, etc.)

  • Understand latest technology trends in e-procurement.

  • Support new customer e-procurement connections in collaboration with the regions and drive multi-regional accounts with unique requirements.

  • Create surveys, checklists and other tools to determine the best e-procurement solution for each customer.

  • Design eSolutions offering and train sales on benefits of promoting BD’s eSolution’s to customers.

  • Collaborate with IT to ensure access to the latest technologies for e-procurement.

  • Collaborate with other functions to ensure a seamless customers experience.

  • Ensure e-catalogs are up to date and optimized ensuring differentiation.

  • Optimize product recommendations output, A/B testing with various algorithms to ensure best cross-selling opportunities.

  • Establish operating mechanisms to ensure e-catalogs are always up-to-date and new products are included upon launch within e-procurement solutions.

  • Troubleshoot customer issues with e-procurement connections.

  • Partner with the regional B2B leaders to understand and represent their needs at the corporate level.

  • Manage a direct report.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in IT, project management or marketing or equivalent degree. Prior experience in a science related field is a plus.

  • 8 years of experience

  • 2 to 3 years direct management experience of an eBusiness or B2B team with a track record of developing the team and driving results.

  • Experience with SAP is required. as well as a solid understanding of “quote to cash” workflows. Preference for experience converting iDocs through to invoice reconciliation

  • Experience with product recommendation software. Preference given for Kibo.

  • Experience with e-procurement technologies for technical and/or scientific customers.

  • Demonstrated history of acquiring customer feedback and interactions.

  • Experience in best practices for collaborating with IT groups.

  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with IT developers.

  • Fluency in multiple eprocurement technologies and analytics.

  • Comfortable in a global, fast-paced, always-on, highly matrixed environment with limited resources.

Definitions

Punchout: allows customers tobuy products on your website easily through their eProcurement system. They add products to their cart and the selected products are “punched back” into their internal procurement system for automated order approval by staff such as lab managers, health and safety, and finance, before the order is placed.
e Invoicing: eInvoicing is the term that refers to transferring invoices electronically. It removes the requirement for human intervention, reducing manual errors. The different data formats include. EDI, .XML, and .CSV.
eCatalog: An eCatalog is a customized file containing all product data, including negotiated and list pricing. It is produced and maintained by the vendor. The ecatalog file is uploaded to a customer’s procurement platform, where it can be used to search, compare, and purchase products electronically. Some platforms also use a “Marketplace” feature where products, prices, delivery times etc. can be compared directly against our competitors. Examples of ecatalog based procurement platforms are SciQuest/Jaggaer, cc-Hubwoo, Ariba, and Science Warehouse.
