Position Summary

As part of our Global Cloud Operations Team, this position is responsible for systems implementation and administration of public Cloud infrastructure and platform services (in Microsoft Azure).

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage information technology and computer systems running Windows, Linux, and virtualization in a public cloud

  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT and analytical data operations

  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance

  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures

  • Ensure security of information, reliability, and scalability of services

  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy

  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time

  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes

  • Identify risk areas related to uptime and reliability, and design solutions to mitigate and remove those risks

  • Metric driven and focused on continuous improvement/continuous development

  • Promote and establish DevOps culture and practices focusing on automation everywhere possible

  • Assist with response to platform issues, retrospectives, and future enhancements

  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, automation, monitoring, and operationalization of various cloud services globally

  • Responsible for off-hours on-call support team for production and non-production environments

Professional Skills & Key Competencies

  • Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience leveraging servant leadership.

  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems

  • Ability to manage personnel to reach maximum potential for both service and personal growth

  • Understanding scripting and automation practices to deliver repeatable, scalable, and resilient services

  • Knowledge and experience of system monitoring and alerting tools and processes

  • Experience working in a SaaS, PaaS and IaaS environment such as AWS, Rackspace, or Azure preferred

  • Experience with Agile methodologies Good understanding of container service and microservices

  • Experience in technical support including Microsoft Azure or AWS systems design and implementation

  • Experience administering/supporting Windows and/or Linux systems running in public cloud

Education Qualifications & Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or minimum 10 years relevant IT experience

  • 5+ years of IT management experience with background in DevOps, System Engineering, SCM, etc

Desired/Additional Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure virtual network appliances

  • Knowledge of network protocols such as: DNS, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, SFTP, etc.

  • Knowledge of Network and TCP/IP routing/subnetting

  • Working knowledge of VPN connectivity

  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery processes

  • Knowledge of DevOps, Agile, Infrastructure as code strongly desired

  • Knowledge of Azure SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, offerings, and services in Azure commercial and DOD regions

Certifications

  • Microsoft or other cloud provider certifications preferred

  • Management or other employee management training or certification desired.
