Overview of the position
Software Engineering Manager in Core Services, Software Technology Solution (the Manager) will lead local and remote software engineering teams developing software products and platforms as well as supporting current products.
The manager will provide technical leadership to the software development team, promote Agile principles for product development and foster an environment of continuous improvement. This individual must be a positive, “can-do” leader with exceptional technical background, who possesses the skills of pulling together ideas and suggestions, shaping them into a vision, and then implementing it in a product.
The manager should demonstrate good communication and people skills, so they can collaborate well within the team and across multiple departments and business units. They should also demonstrate willingness and potential to motivate and grow other team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver a portfolio of 1-2 projects on time and on budget
Take ownership of the architectural design and technology selection of the solutions developed
Lead a global team of 3-5 software developers to create high quality, robust software products
Collaborate with other software teams in the organization (local and remote) to coordinate on delivery timelines
Collaborate with other functions in the program (marketing, program management, testing and Ops) to ensure successful systems integration and delivery to overall program plan
Monitor project schedules and maintain awareness of related activities that may adversely impact the software schedule and address the risk with program management in a timely manner
Facilitate decisions on scope of work, duration of tasks, and product requirements
Lead and / or participates in critical design and technology reviews
Ensure adherence to BD development policies and procedures
Establish and monitor staff career development plans and goals
Participate in hiring and coaching associates following company philosophies, processes, policies and tools
Provide input into yearly budget planning and quarterly resource planning
Requirements:
BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline
2- 5 years of experience leading teams and/or managing direct reports
5 -8 years of experience designing and developing enterprise applications
Hands-on experience with AWS platform including Serverless Architecture, API Gateway, Load Balancing, Route53, Elastic Beanstalk, Containers, S3, integration technologies for event-based architecture like EventBridge / SQS / SNS
Working knowledge of database technologies such as RDS (MySql, PostgreSQL), Aurora, DynamoDB
Proficiency with at least one of modern application development languages, such as C#, Java, Go or Python.
Hands-on experience of designing and developing enterprise reports and analytics solutions will be a plus
Hands-on experience of troubleshooting field issues
Good understanding of information security requirements and strategies at infrastructure and application level
At least 2 years working experience with Agile/Scrum Methodologies
Action oriented work style with a focus on delivering results
Demonstrated positive work ethics with a strong commitment to achieving project goals
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
