The National Upgrade team is responsible for leading and handling BD Pyxis ES, BD Pyxis Logistics and BD Pyxis IV Prep software upgrades. The Systems Engineer is responsible to perform pre-upgrade checks while collaborating with the project team to mitigate potential issues. Additionally, the TSE supports resolution of post upgrade issues and performs post checks prior to project close out.

Overall responsibilities:

The overall responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include:

  • Technical consultant to the PM for risks and mitigation

  • Perform pre-checks, post-checks

  • Support the project team’s use of all governance tools (scope document, project status reports, risk and change logs, tollgates, etc.), for all assigned projects, to effectively lead all projects

  • Demonstrate effective social skills, verbal and written, with customers, project teams and leadership

  • Demonstrate ability to provide technical support to the project teams in a matrixed environment

Skills, Duties and Tasks particular to the job:

  • Detailed understanding of upgrade requirements for BD Pyxis ES, BD Pyxis Logistics and BD Pyxis IV Prep

  • Ability to field customer questions about upgrade requirements

  • Detailing functional needs of the end-user in the form of features and user stories & their associated acceptance criteria and specifications, possibly by modeling functional workflows and crafting story maps for assigned features.

  • Able to provide feedback and product configuration suggestions in order for customer to solve internal issues and problems

  • Experience using remote access tools to access live environments

  • Maintain consistent work schedule to establish reliability with clients, peers, and subordinates

  • Participate in upgrade readiness activities with new software releases

  • Possesses software engineering experience in healthcare engineering and demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical and IT operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience/certifications

  • Software engineering experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with healthcare IT software solutions

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet BD’s auto safety standards

  • Home based position and may be located anywhere in the US with access to an airport. Travel ranges from 0 – 5% overnight travel. Position requires flexible working hours, including some nights and weekends.

  • Upon hire, must provide proof of, and maintain current immunizations and obtain additional immunizations appropriate for the facility which enables access to customer sites in order to perform essential job functions. Proofs must include: Hepatitis B, Influenza (current year), MMR (mumps, measles, rubella), Varicella (chicken pox) Annual TB/PPD (skin test), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis.
