Job Description Summary

Technical Program Manager is responsible for managing the execution of programs consisting of single or multiple projects. Works within the constraints of budget, schedule and scope while managing and communicating risk and ensuring adherence to established processes and methodologies.

Seeking a highly motivated, self-directed, and experienced individual to lead Agile software development. The ideal candidate is a professional who is a program or project manager for enterprise-class software applications, has led multiple teams of 10+ software engineers indirectly reporting to the candidate, with experience in managing geographically dispersed teams.

Strong management skills with a proven record of providing direction and leadership to others are essential. The candidate must be a highly effective communicator and problem-solver. The candidate must also possess demonstrated skills in leading and managing change; should possess the ability to pull together ideas and suggestions, shape them into a vision, and then implement this in the project plans.

The selected candidate will bring new ideas, creativity and perspectives to our organization. You will lead by example, with leadership focused on accountability, collaboration, and transparency. You will also nurture a sense of camaraderie, success and appreciation among your team, and identify opportunities to improve team performance and effectiveness.

Excellent communication and cooperation within the Product Development organization and with all departments/stakeholders within the business unit (and beyond) is essential for success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

o Demonstrates sophisticated knowledge of project and program management principles

o Uses project management tools to lead large and sophisticated projects or programs.

o Defines and handles scope, time and resources of large scale, sophisticated projects or programs.

o Facilitates identification of project or program risks/issues, develops and assigns responsibility for mitigation/resolution actions; leads mitigation plan.

o Refines project management methodologies for quality and project or program risk management.

o Synthesizes critical information and communicates business implications to collaborators.

o Consults with the senior management team and non-technology organization personnel.

o Has depth and breadth of experience in project management; integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities.

o Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address sophisticated problems and non-standard situations.

o Provides leadership in the form of coaching, mentoring, and/or training. Acts as a key contributor in a sophisticated environment.

o Measures project performance for schedule and resource effort variance.

o Defines, delegates and evaluates the roles, responsibilities, goals and results for team members.

o Develops innovative solutions to sophisticated business or technical problems that require the regular use of resourcefulness and creativity.

o Independently resolves and pursues courses of action vital to acquire desired results.

o Defines program resource needs, and discusses program resourcing plans.

o In charge of medium-large scale, moderate to high complexity new product development programs with sub-projects that may be related to a technical or business challenge

o Brings regulatory compliance and quality management questions/issues to the attention of collaborators and leadership

o Leads cross-functional teams through problem resolution including root cause analysis and corrective action

o Participates in business & technical assessments and influences development decisions.

o Work with functional leaders to ensure the appropriate Team resources are committed to the projects and chip in to the encouraged levels.

o Interacts with senior external personnel on significant business or technical matters often requiring coordination between functions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.

  • 6+ years related work experience required.

  • Experience in government-regulated, healthcare/medical device environment.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams toward operational objectives.

  • Ability to lead multiple project deployments and integrations.

  • Ability to give to strategic goal-setting for department/business unit.

  • Ability to handle adverse situations.Effective writing, speaking, and presentation skills required.

  • Ability to lead others and set priorities in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment.

  • Experience working with matrixed resources within assigned programs and/or projects.

  • Solid understanding of software development work, practices and culture.

  • Experience in delivering products within an end-to-end software development life cycle (SDLC).

  • Practical knowledge and application of Agile software development principles.

  • Drives the consistency of departmental Agile practices.

  • Ability to supply to strategic goal-setting for department/business unit.

  • Understanding of and experience in stage-gate or similar innovation management process.

  • Skilled in meeting facilitation, action item traction and follow up.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Visual Studio – Team Foundation Server desired.

  • PlanView Portfolio Management knowledge desired.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) desired.​
