BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Technical Writer in San Diego, California
Job Description Summary
The Technical Writer creates technical documents for BD hardware and software products and updates existing documents. The technical writer follows templates and guidelines for delivering product manuals that include: user manuals, service manuals, safety guides, installation/deployment guides, communication/service bulletins, tip sheets, product and device labels, and online help. The technical writer reviews product data, drawings, part lists, and prototypes to develop customer-facing documentation.
This position will collaborate with hardware and software engineers, subject matter experts, marketing managers, project managers, and legal regulatory professionals.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a BS/BA Degree.
Minimum of one year experience as a technical writer.
Ability to deliver quality documentation on time.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
Excellent written skills in English .
Experience developing online help or websites
Experience using graphics software such as Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience using Adobe FrameMaker to write technical manuals
Experience using Madcap Flare to write technical manuals
Experience in editing, copyediting, and proofreading
Experience with project management using tools such as, Microsoft Project
Experience working for an FDA regulated company
Excellent verbal communication skills
Experience in source control such as, Perforce, SourceSafe, or GitHUB.
The ability to structure information and write clearly
Project management skills and experience using Microsoft Project to be able to manage smaller projects
Knowledge of technical publications methods, trends, and technologies
Knowledge of concepts such as DITA, topic-based writing, information mapping, structured writing, content guides, conditional text, and single-sourcing
