BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Associate Medical Scientist in San Jose, California
Job Description Summary
The Associate Medical Scientist is an integral member of Medical Affairs responsible for supporting medical science including writing, editing and maintaining high quality Medical documentation; as well as contributing and leading the periodic review of the published literature for the BD products, and preparing documentation for the technical files to support the In Vitro regulatory status of registered BD products. Has knowledge of BD reagents and flow cytometry instruments and product development practices in commercial settings, and understands regulatory requirement for IVD and promotional activities.
Build understanding of the literature and current medical opinion related to BD products.
Leads the periodic literature review activities and classification according to pre-defined protocol criteria.Experience and ability to work with BD internal librarian resources or external vendors, including troubleshooting and documentation transfer.
Strong analytical skills and excellent written communication skills to develop, review/ edit, obtains feedback and approval of written periodic search summaries, protocols and reports for BD technical files.
Supports and improves existing literature search methods.
Presents summaries, data and progress during group meetings.
Contributes to attain completion of technical file milestones.
Possess knowledge of BD Biosciences reagents and instrument.
Is willing to learn, participates in functional and cross-functional training to advance technical and regulatory knowledge and skills.
Works under general supervision and reports to the Senior Clinical Project Lead assigned to IVDR.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor degree in relevant scientific discipline (Biological Sciences or Biomedical engineering focused on Biotechnology)
Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience in product development or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
Result and detail oriented, self-motivated with ability to take risks, willing to learn, experience with literature research method and databases preferred
Working knowledge of MS Office, strong skills with MS Excel and/or database development
Excellentverbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team based work environment is required
Extremely motivated and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment with a hard-working and interdisciplinary team.
Experience with BD systems and reagents: FACSCanto™, FACSLyric ™, BD LWA/SPA or LSR Fortessa™ preferred
Experience using flow cytometric analysis software (Diva, FlowJo, etc.)
