Job Description SummaryThe Cost Accountant, Operations Finance role provides Financial and Accounting support for the Instrument Operations organization of BD Biosciences. This will include developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning and control; supporting the Company’s annual budget process, including department spending, manufacturing variances, inventory, capital, and budget allocations; and performing financial analysis as needed to support and guide business decisions. This is an individual contributor role which offers development and growth opportunities for the right candidate.

Essential job responsibilities

  • Responsible for PPV detailed reporting, supporting the BST meetings associated with Engineering Projects and partnering with the Sourcing and Cost to Win management teams to assist in PPV tracking and analysis.

  • Supports the Company’s annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, including Headcount, Spending, Manufacturing Variances, Capital expenditures and Inventory.

  • Assists in Inventory Management activities including but not limited to Excess and Obsolete analysis, performing cycle count audits and preparing monthly Inventory reporting analysis.

  • Supports the month end close process and the preparation of the Ops Package as well as the monthly Finance Reporting Package.

  • Supports the costing of new parts and products as well as other Standard Costing activities as required.

  • Responsible for the reviewing, monitoring and understanding of work order variances.

  • Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements. Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management. Minimum qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance plus 3 to 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Understanding of cost accounting principles including standard costing and inventory management is required

  • Financial Planning & Analysis experience is preferred but not required

  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills required Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
