BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Director, Core Software Engineering in San Jose, California
Job Description Summary
The Core Software team is responsible for pushing the status quo by defining and implementing BD Biosciences strategic software transformation to a world-class, industry-leading, software organization. This may include developer assets across the software portfolio that are on-premise, hybrid, and/or cloud service solutions that support BDB’s developer lifecycle from source control to release. In this role, you will be a strategic engineering leader driving the development, strategy, and execution for most of the foundational elementals of our developer ecosystem and third-party product integration. You will lead the organization as they build scalable services across our product portfolio.
The Core Software team builds the software foundation behind BDB’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, best practices, agile process improvements, reusable product components, and infrastructure. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer and our customers. We look across BDB’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
20 years of professional experience in engineering, with experience in technical innovation, evolutionary architectures, and leading organizations.
Experience building developer ecosystems in the Medical Device space.
Track record of successful agile and digital transformation of software products with a focus on continuous improvement under FDA regulations.
Passion for technology and technical depth to uncover root causes of complex technical problems and provide guidance on solving them.
Master's degree in Computer Science.
Working knowledge of applicable standards for medical devices: IVDR, FDA QSR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304.
Experience in developing a shared vision and ways of working that inspire teams to collaborate for shared success.
Ability to set and drive “big picture” strategy while providing detailed technical guidance to the team.
Ability to lead through influence, both with internal and external stakeholders.
Provide technical vision and strategy, and design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap.
Partner closely across the organization to create, drive and deliver innovative, compelling, and user-friendly software products across all platforms. Inspire teams to innovate, invent, implement, and deploy complex software solutions in a commercial, mission-critical environment.
Unlock roadblocks at a corporate level and cultivate collaboration with senior technologists across BDB through leadership, creativity, intelligence, and presence.
Develop and grow leadership talent through effective mentoring, coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies for key talent.
