As a functional manager within the software engineering group the Lead Product Owner/Program Manager will supervise and coordinate the activities of Agile Product Owners as they relate to the understanding of immunology, flow cytometry, customers’ needs, and business requirements and translating them into the software products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The lead product owner provides hands-on leadership, assesses internal and competitors software capabilities in order to build the best solutions for our customers.

  • Duties include determining skill needs, talent acquisition, performance management, associate development, allocation of resources to meet dynamic business needs, and adherence to quality processes.

  • As a software program manager, the successful candidate will use their understanding of customers’ needs, and BD’s goals to prioritize the efforts of multiple Agile scrum teams across multiple products.

  • He or she will work with stakeholders to establish roadmaps and timelines for the project, remove obstacles, track progress, and represent the software team within the product development programs.

  • Maintains focus on our customers and the value BD can deliver to them. Works toward improving customer centricity in our products.

  • Coaches, develops and retains a team of Software Product Owners in order to develop requirements for BDB software products.

  • Defines and drives execution of the software development strategy, product roadmap and priorities for multiple product lines.

  • Helps align stakeholders on business and system requirements, program functions and strategy.

  • Monitors software definition and requirements development for all software products. Develops methodologies to achieve requirements gathering, documentation and communication goals.

  • Makes recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization and resource allocation with input from team members.

  • Drives usability testing for all software applications.

  • Keeps abreast of the US and ex-U.S. regulations affecting own area of product line management complies with those requirements. Initiate changes to BD practices and procedures to support compliance requirements.

  • Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work.

  • Brings regulatory compliance questions / issues to the attention of the appropriate level of management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Life Sciences discipline.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Product Owner or Project Manager.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management utilizing Agile/Scrum software development practices

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading teams or supervising others.

  • Solid understanding of the requirements engineering process and discipline in an agile environment.

  • Effective project planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills - verbal, written, and listening

  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in a team, organized, analytical, and good decision making and issue resolution skills.

  • Solid problem solving skills, attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.Demonstrated ability to strategically solve problems.

  • Action oriented with the ability to drive for results.

  • Leadership presence with ability to utilize organizational channels, experience and influencing skills to effectively negotiate and persuade others

Asset:

  • PMP Certification

  • Experience with flow cytometry instrumentation and/or software
