BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Sr Scientist in San Jose, California
Job Description SummaryThe successful candidate will work closely with a team of product development scientists, cell biologists and bioinformatics scientists in the exciting and cutting edge field of single-cell multi-omics on the mRNA and protein level. She or he will design and perform experiments to optimize and validate protocols for single-cell sequencing. Success in this role requires a strong scientific background with molecular biology and genomics experience and ability to work in a fast-paced field.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and perform hands-on experiments to develop, optimize, and validate new protocols for the BD Rhapsody™ platform with good documentation practice
Independently analyze and interpret single-cell genomics data and present data to cross-functional team members
Drive assay product development progress in collaboration with technology development scientists, bioinformatics scientists and transfer technology to operations
Doctorate degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biomedical sciences, or related field
Extensive knowledge and experience in molecular biology
Experience in next generation sequencing techniques from preparing libraries, sequencing on Illumina platforms, and analyzing data
Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment, quick learner with ability to adapt to change
Strong written and verbal communication
Highly motivated, responsible, independent self-starter and problem solver
Experience in product development process and documentation, ex. verification/validation plans, protocols, reports.
Experience in single-cell RNA-seq assays.
Experience in primary cell isolation, primary cell culture, antibody staining, and flow cytometry.
