BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Staff Fluidic Engineer in San Jose, California
Job Description Summary
The Staff Fluidic Engineer will lead in the design and development of new fluidic technologies for medical devices and flow cytometry instruments. The candidate will work with cross functional engineers in the development of new and current fluidic systems and architectures. You will bring your knowledge of macro and micro fluidic design to a collaborative team of talented engineers to realize our advanced products.

Develop the architecture for new fluidic systems and develop new fluidic technology
Design solutions to complex problems using engineering tools, data and analysis
Responsible for making technical decisions based on knowledge, experience and engineering data.
Define engineering specifications based on customer needs (VOC), product requirements, and design constraints
Work in a matrixed environment across global projects and platforms and with multiple competing accountabilities
Generate and execute test protocols, analyze data, preparation of reports and presentations at cross functional meetings
Hands on development and testing of components and systems
Model fluid/thermal flow in air and liquid systems using simulation software
Qualification of component performance, chemical compatibility and reliability
Design systems with an emphasis on design Manufacturability and Serviceability within a cost target
Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team
Mentor junior engineers as needed
Education and Experience:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline with specialization in fluids
M.S. Degree or Ph.D. with industry experience strongly preferred.
At least 7 years of combined academic and commercial experience in developing fluid management systems
Demonstrated experience in designing and developing macro and micro fluidic systems
Demonstrated successful design and launch of fluidic system within cost targets
Demonstrated experience with industry fluid control components and system architecture
Demonstrated strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
GD&T experience with tolerance stack-up analysis and RSS method
Experience working in a lab, with ability to perform and document detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with commercial CFD required.
Experience with Six Sigma and DFMEA practices
Willingness to travel up to 10% (global).
