Maintain and repair Injection Molding Equipment and Robotics within expected Quality, Cycle rate and Scrap levels in assigned area, with little or no supervision. Identify machinery components that are nearing failure and communicate repair needs with production to determine the best time for replacement. Will be required to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine inoperative or malfunctioning Injection Molding Equipment and Robotics in assigned areas and diagnose source of trouble (mechanical or electrical).

  • Dismantle machinery and perform routine and non-routine repairs. Replace broken or defective parts reassemble machines and adjust equipment for optimal performance.

  • Coordinate the manufacture of replacement items with the Machine Shop.

  • Correct electrical problems as needed to facilitate a repair.

  • Restoration of vision systems as necessary.

  • Fix, Replace, and Calibrate servo motors as necessary.

  • Replace parts for emergency repair of inoperative production equipment to avoid costly downtime.

  • Perform preventative maintenance task as needed to maintain production equipment. Finish the required maintenance records for each machine.

  • Mentoring the junior maintenance personnel and support the production team as required.

  • Must be able to work alone or in a group environment on repairs as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or A.S./A.A. degree or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Two or more years of experience in repairing industrial equipment and machinery or packaging machinery.

  • Proven understanding of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems as applicable.

  • Able to work with blueprints, or verbal instructions.

Required Proficiencies/Skills:

  • Able to read and interpret Electrical schematics.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace sensors, valve manifolds, circuit breakers, and fuses.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions in all sensor types used in production

  • Dismantle machinery and perform routine and non-routine repairs. Replace broken or defective parts, reassemble machines and adjust equipment.

  • Capable of using a digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, amp probe and use appropriate electrical test equipment.

  • Correct electrical problems using own initiative and judgment.

  • The incumbent may be frequently required to stand and/or occasionally sit for extended periods of time. Bending, stooping and reaching are also frequently required. While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to episodes of walking, kneeling, balancing, crouching, pushing/pulling, repetitive grasping, hearing, twisting, lifting, frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.

  • The incumbent may occasionally be required to climb.

  • The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift to 20 lbs., frequently lift up to 10 lbs., occasionally pulling/pushing up to 30 lbs., frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs., frequently carry up to 5 lbs.

  • The position will almost always have exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, and potential temperature fluctuations.

  • Occasionally the position will have exposure to fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, cleaning compounds and solvents.

  • The incumbent may be exposed to noise levels in the work environment moderate to loud.

  • Employees must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing/distribution environment.

  • The incumbent must be willing and able to wear required PPE such as, safety glasses, face mask and/or shield, hearing protection, safety shoes, hair and beard net.
