The Procurement Manager reports directly to the Senior Materials Manager and is responsible for all material purchases within the plant to support production. This includes managing the Direct Buying team as well as the Tool Crib team. You are responsible for ensuring we have the materials required for production while simultaneously achieving inventory targets. This role is also accountable to achieve annual savings initiatives and manage the purchase price variances. YOu will work closely with all areas of the plant, and BD’s Corporate Sourcing Group to achieve the department goals as well as engage with suppliers as needed, leading any negotiations, and manage any type of crisis to ensure we have the materials required (hurricane, other acts of God that impede supply, etc). This role is critical to the overall success of our Plant!

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement team and ensure production requirements across the site are met within inventory dollar requirements.

  • Manage the tool crib team which has responsibility over indirect spend including managing preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Manage a category such as resins or chemicals.

  • Lead supplier negotiations and achieve annual cost saving initiatives for direct and indirect spend Point person for any material issues such as hurricanes, problem suppliers, material constraints, etc. Lead team in managing SAP parameters and maintenance of IT systems.

  • Collaborate with planning group and lead effort to maximize ERP system usage Optimize and document standardized processes where possible.

  • Learn all categories and be able to back up as needed.

  • Initiate and lead improvement projects with suppliers, internal customers, corporate sourcing, planning, etc.

  • Project monthly/quarterly/annual inventory levels and control as needed while meeting production needs.

  • Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers Set standard costs and measure PPV (purchase price variance).

  • Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related discipline required

  • Supply chain, Sourcing, Lean Six Sigma, or other certifications a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience required

  • SAP proficiency or similar ERP experience required

  • Strong reporting and analytics capabilities preferred

  • Experience in supplier negotiation/management with solid purchasing fundamentals required

  • History of managing suppliers through difficult negotiations and circumstances required

  • Working knowledge of production planning in manufacturing environment preferred
