The Quality Engineer works In conjunction with the Production Manager, Supervisors, Engineers, and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot and identify production floor quality problems through analysis and interpretation of inspection and process data. They are responsible for the following:

  • Support the implementation of new products, processes, and changes by developing quality plans, approval of validation plans and protocols, inspection methods, work instructions, and raw material specifications and inspection plans.

  • Analyze and interpret inspection and process data to identify and prevent quality problems and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Responsible for the investigation, documentation, root cause, and corrective action activities of deviations and non-conforming material.

  • Responsible for the investigation, documentation, root cause, and corrective action activities of customer complaints.

  • Support manufacturing and quality process improvement projects as an effective team member or leader using Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma tools. Develop working knowledge of applicable regulatory, Corporate and/or Unit requirements.

  • Facilitates Change Control. Provides audit support for customer and regulatory audits (preparation, closure, etc.)

  • Communicates across functions / departments for assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Complies with all local, state, federal, and BD Safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations as well as all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

The Qaulity Engineer supports the Quality Department by performing Internal and supplier audits as needed. They shall comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations, BD quality policies, procedures, and involving practices where consistent application of sound quality assurance principles occur.

DELIVERABLES

  • Moderate knowledge of applicable ISO / FDA regulations, Corporate and / or Unit requirements.

  • Training in statistics. Class II / III medical device experience (preferred).

  • Knowledge of design control principles (preferred).

  • Ability to provide support to internal / external audits.

  • Support Quality System improvement projects to effectively meet mutually agreed upon goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BS Degree in Engineering or a related science field, or AS Degree with two years quality experience with emphasis and training in analytical problem solving, design of experiments and statistics, with certification as an ASQC certified quality engineer

  • One year quality experience with emphasis and training in analytical problem solving, design of experiments and statistics with certification as an ASQC certified quality engineer.

  • Six-Sigma Green belt and lean manufacturing training is preferred.
