Job Description SummaryThe Senior Buyer identifies sources of commodities and evaluates bids, awards contracts, and purchase orders, works with R&D to develop specifications for raw materials, and manages vendor relationships. # Job Description CORE RESPONSIBILITIES + Manage the buying of certain commodities (including resin, molded components, stamped metal, wire, etc.) to support production needs without interruption. + Analyze spend data and identify cost savings opportunities. Partner with Sourcing counterparts and negotiate new savings / sources of supply. + Forecast and strategically manage inventory dollars to achieve inventory targets. Manage Inventory strategies and parameters including reorder points, safety stock levels, supplier managed inventory programs, etc. + Support and lead continuous improvement projects throughout the plant including raw material product changes and qualifications. + Resolve supply constraints and ensure suppliers’ capability / capacity to meet our needs. Help lead supplier scorecard evaluation and coach suppliers as needed. Key Deliverables + Procure goods and materials at the lowest cost, consistent with material and delivery requirements. + Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers. Minimize purchase price variance. + Manage master data, purchase order execution, expediting, and other tasks in the day-to day management of obtaining goods and services. + Support in vendor quality system audits. + Suggests potential suppliers to provide goods and services to the company, including trends in commodities. + Prepares and analyzes quotations and recommends sources of supply that meet specifications. + Initiates and completes purchasing savings projects including inventory and cost reduction projects. + Arranges for the return, credit or replacement of non-conforming materials. + Promptly resolve issues causing delay in payment to suppliers. + Maintain supplier relationships that encourage participation and contributions (new products, processes, ideas, and improvements) and initiate actions required to maintain their performance at a high level. + Primary liaison between supplier and plant when quality, cost, and supply issues arise. + Work with plant resources to resolve production problems and identify projects. + Participate with Category Management to measure supplier performance. + Strong communication, negotiating, and presentation skills. + In depth knowledge of Supply Chain processes and best practices. + Proficient in Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, etc. + Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD policies, safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations. + Other duties as assigned.
