Summary

The Procurement Manager executes sourcing strategies for the assigned sites and/or categories as defined in the three to five year category roadmaps, and as directed by the Cluster Lead or Sourcing Director. The assigned scope is generally narrow in nature over a few sites. The role is primarily focused on the Media & Reagent Cluster.

Implementation activities generally include leading projects with a cross-functional team, managing the procurement aspects of supply base selection, qualification, and proactive risk management for the assigned category in alignment with plant procurement, including source-to-pay process, customer-centric support and preferred payment methods, establishing supply agreements and managing the supplier relationships for assigned preferred suppliers.

The Procurement Manager leads supplier management activities and executes supplier compliance activities for assigned suppliers. Suppliers are generally regional in nature and may span only a few sites, a business or a function. This associate is responsible for achieving Class I and II savings targets for the assigned supply base, developing value plans, and achieving value targets within the assigned sites and/or categories.

The Procurement Manager is responsible for customer relationships with stakeholders for assigned categories and / or sites, and handles a wide range of two-way communication with and in support of site procurement that arises in the course of implementation, while demonstrating close collaboration and alignment with category hub leader(s) and global and regional strategic sourcing managers.

The Procurement Manager is responsible for contributing to the category team in the development, communication and approval of sourcing strategies, collecting and providing regional business requirements and insights from the regional supply market and supply practices. Performance is measured against agreed cost savings and value targets, supplier compliance as well as proficiency in the use of the applicable tools for the strategic sourcing process.

D egree of Accountability:

Accountable to Procurement and the Cluster for strategy execution and supply base management activities; implementation of category strategy realization projects generated by category strategies or other continuous improvement activities associated with suppliers and plants resulting from strategy implementation and annual improvement planning.

Quality Impact:

For direct categories, accountable for compliance to corporate procedures for designated suppliers within the assigned region, including supplier relationship management activities. For indirect categories in the portfolio, accountable for demand management, governance and compliance metrics.

Cost Impact:

Responsible for the delivery of savings and value, including Class I and Class II savings commitments.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • 50-60% Implementation/Realization of Sourcing Strategy/Risk Management

  • 20% Supplier Management – Value, Innovation, Compliance, Process

  • 10-20% Category Strategy Participation

  • 10% Internal Stakeholder Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Management or other related field

  • MBA or equivalent degree preferred

  • Minimum three to five years of procurement experience as a buyer, sourcing analyst or sourcing manager

  • Experience sourcing/purchasing chemicals preferred

  • Purchasing process knowledge and associated certification (CPSM, APICS, NAPM) required

  • Experience with outsourced manufacturing and supplier relationship management

  • Cost management practices, quantitative and financial analysis skills

  • Strategic sourcing process experience preferred

  • Strong project management skills (PMP certification desired)

  • Ability to influence with limited authority

  • Agile, results, and customer oriented

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with IT Systems (SAP) desired and other MS Software required (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Working knowledge of cGMP regulated industry and quality management systems requirements
