Job Description SummaryThe Global Market Development Director will lead the development and execution of the upstream marketing and portfolio strategies across the Molecular Diagnostics and WHC platforms. Works jointly with platform leaders, WW downstream marketing teams, R&D, Program management and core teams to execute our new product development strategies across both platforms. In collaboration with business development and program management identifies, selects and works directly with external partners to augment the content of our platforms. Drives the market development efforts through identification and collaboration with KOLs, experts and generation of evidence. Leads and develops a team of upstream marketing managers.

Job Description


  • Develop a deep understanding of customer needs in specific disease areas, market trends, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant growth opportunities. Identify and execute market research activities to drive business platform/portfolio decisions

  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative market data in order to identify trends in the market and thereby, translate these trends into business opportunities and actions.

  • Develop opportunity financial modeling of new technology platforms including cannibalization / obsolescence of existing products

  • Develop consistent approaches to project proposals, market models (bottom up assessment), metrics and market assumptions to enable strategic discussions and informed decisions across both platforms

  • Lead marketing efforts for New Product Development & Portfolio Management

  • In collaboration with WW Downstream Marketing team determine / prioritize key unmet needs and opportunities and capture this in target product profiles and specifications

  • Lead new product development process by driving VoC into concept, definition and development phases – including using secondary, primary research as well formalized focus groups and advisory boards

  • Through direct team execute all marketing deliverables from concept through development phases and transition launch plans to WW Downstream Marketing team during the qualification phase

  • In collaboration with Medical, Scientific Affairs and program teams prioritize and lead market development and evidence generation efforts

  • Manage external partners for the development of new products through contract, concept and qualification phases.

  • Position Requirements:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional business experience, five (5) of which in a related health care industry.

  • Advanced degree preferred, either M.B.A. with focus on Marketing, Healthcare Management or Finance OR Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or similar.

  • Ideal profile for the role has healthcare experience in a top tier management consulting firm and/or corporate strategy or strategic marketing experience in a leading diagnostic company

  • Marketing experience with molecular diagnostics and/or cervical cancer screening (including HPV) and exposure to phase-gated product development of medical devices highly desirable

  • Familiarity with US, ex-US reimbursement process beneficial.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence complex cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to develop deep, rigorous, analytical analysis that drives business function improvement, growth opportunity identification, and strategy development

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and persuasion skills

  • Experience with financial models, financial analysis and market analysis
