Job Description Summary

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor oversees the facilities maintenance teams, including any contracted or outsourced services.

For this role, the primary responsibility is ensuring high levels of performance of the entire facility/utilities in a cost-efficient fashion at the St. Louis, MO BD site. This is role responsible for developing long-term plans that supports the Site Manufacturing Strategy and in alignment with corporate objectives.

This position has full responsibility and oversight to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and talent metrics for the respective functional area.

Sphere of Influence

Provide master facility planning to accommodate future growth and changes. Oversight and planning for all facilities related designs, installations, operation, and maintenance including electrical power distribution, steam generation, chilled and RO water sources, sewage, compressed air systems, HVAC systems, building modifications, expansions, and maintenance of the entire site.

Proficiencies

The Facilities Manager must demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Direct efforts made towards building maintenance personnel to achieve a high level of building services with efficient use of resources.

  • In collaboration with facility staff, maintain building systems for fire and accident prevention.

  • Strong influence and communication abilities across diverse cultures

  • Hiring and staffing involvement

  • Building effective teams and fostering open communication

  • Coaching and developing others

  • Strategic agility and business acumen

  • Championing of change and innovation

  • Strong knowledge of Facilities Operational Management/Strategic Planning, Construction Management processes, and EH&S practices.

  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills with Senior BD Global leadership team members.

  • Budgeting and Financial Analysis and Modeling.

  • Supports Safety-Environmental Engineer in the following standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OSHA, EPA, and FDA GMP’s.

Experience

A minimum of five to ten years in the industry, one to three years supervisor experience, with a background including:

  • manufacturing or project engineering

  • construction management

  • governmental liaison

  • regulatory compliance

  • subcontractor management

  • management direct and indirect team members

  • strong technical mechanical/electrical trades related experience

  • HVAC and hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting

  • building management systems

  • fire life safety systems

  • security systems

  • public address systems

  • Microsoft Office suite

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree or five to ten years of commensurate experience with facilities and construction projects is required.

  • B.S. degree in mechanical, environmental, safety, or industrial engineering is preferred.
