Are you a Sr. Mechanical Engineer looking for an exciting new challenge? Look no further! Our team is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the implementation of project and process support activities towards the attainment of departmental and plant goals. As a key member of our team, you will focus on capacity expansion, quality/waste improvement, and cost improvement programs

Responsibilities:

  • Use TPM and LEAN manufacturing tools to drive continuous improvement for productivity and exceed budgeted goals

  • Leads and coaches LTAs and MTs in the use of these tools and drives improvement to hit all SQDC related goals.

  • Lead and drive reliability and consistency to achieve daily OEE and scrap goals

  • Act as a safety leader for all technical associates and set the example for safe work habits and rule compliance

  • Ensure all preventative maintenance is completed on assigned areas of responsibility. Assesses each unplanned downtime event for design improvement or potential changes to the PM to prevent similar events ongoing

  • Recommend capital equipment or process modifications and lead physical installation, debugging, and training of production personnel

  • Generate annual “Cost to Win” productivity ideas to reduce costs or increase performance

  • Coordinate activities between equipment vendors, Division R&D, and plant functional departments

  • Design and implement machine improvements and capital equipment project management activities

  • Prepare a three-to-five-year capital need strategy for production equipment

  • Assists in the preparation and submittal of capital appropriation requests projects as required

  • Accountable for spending (capital or expense) within approved limits on programs.

  • Implement reliability opportunities and leverage findings with other engineering personnel for application on lines with similar opportunities

  • Advise personnel in the trouble shooting and maintenance of cam driven mechanisms, pneumatics, and servo driven assemblies

  • Establish which elements comprising a job are suitable for in-house fabrication or revision and which items would be best contracted. Secures quotations and selects contractors accordingly.

  • Apply AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for mechanical design improvements

  • As required within the scope of their duty, will be responsible for all associated documentation, including however not limited to, the following: Validations, Operations Procedures, Preventive Maintenance schedules, Engineering Change Notifications, spare parts listings, etc.

  • Required to develop a firm understanding of all equipment for which they are responsible to include set-up, adjustment, and assessment of improvements.

  • Performs other duties as the need arises by the Engineering Supervisor.

  • Advises the efforts of support personnel such as machinists and technicians, etc. in the modification, adjustment, removal, and installation of new or existing equipment as the need arises.

  • Reports to the Business Unit Engineering Manager

  • Supports the plant manufacturing effort, with to identify problems and complete root cause resolution including preventative solutions to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Applies successful judgement based on proper engineering calculations and data-based decision making.

Qualifications

  • Must have Bachelors Degree in Engineering from a 4 year Accredited Institution. Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree is preferred

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing/high-speed automated environment and 3 years relevant mechanical engineering experience.

  • Minimum of three (3) years in validation and document control role preferred

  • Six Sigma green or black belt certification preferred.

  • Validated knowledge and understanding of established plant safety standards. Including but not limited to: Lockout / Tag-Out, NFPA 70E Electrical Safe Work Practices, and OSHA Subpart “O” for proper machine guarding.

  • High mechanical proficiency and analytical trouble shooting techniques

  • Proficient in the use of engineering principles in part design, problem resolution, and while working with vendors

  • Awareness of product performance and quality requirements

  • Has an applicable knowledge and ability to use AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for mechanical design improvements.
