Job Description Summary
The Cell Leader will have overall ownership of production, processes, and people included in the respective product line/cell and will be fully responsible to deliver upon SQDCT targets, to eliminate losses in the area through BDPS and to grow the capability of the team. This role has responsibility for the designated product line including setting goals, making decisions, and driving accountability toward department objectives in the designated production cell. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures, and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Reports directly to the Business Unit Manager. Coordinates and supervises key activities related to the manufacture of components and/or finished goods in the respective production area. Provides capable leadership and motivation to associates and other supervisory staff. Effectively drives all activities in compliance with the highest safety, quality, service and total cost objectives of the business at all times. Reports financial, technical, safety, personnel and other pertinent information to Business Unit Manager in a regular and timely fashion.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, too:
Mentors and leads the Cell Team using the Tiered Management Process to drive SQDCT results by focusing on associate capability development, ownership, and timely execution.
Coordinates and drives all activities within the Cell and sets priorities for safety, quality, production, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Originates and/or is a key participant in developing, planning, executing and maintaining safety, quality, and cost reduction programs for their respective area.
Along with a cost accountant, develops and presents the annual operating budget, mid-month projection, and quarterly financial reforecast to the Business Unit Manager of their respective area for review and approval.
Coordinates activities to ensure departmental compliance to all Federal, State, Local and Company regulatory requirements. The elements include FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO, DHEC, EEOC and Company policies relative to the requirements, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, calibration, associate training, and safety.
- Responsible to develop and manage the Cell budget and headcount levels.
Analyzes production schedules provided by the Materials Control or PIC function and actively reviews with these functions for any changes needed to maximize operating efficiency and service levels within the approved financial and quality plan.
Will serve as manufacturing representative when conducting FWO’s/MWO’s (Work Orders), investigation alternate materials/processes, revision of any specifications and/or documentation.
Ascertains and maintains the accuracy of production and waste reporting submitted to accounting such that financial statements forwarded to Division accurately depicts the true financial status of operations within their respective area.
- Coordinates the establishment and communication of challenging SQDCT goals. Translates Cell targets into lines / areas / workplaces and ensures that each cell associate understands what is expected from them with documented individual, specific, and measurable targets.
Attend and follow up on meetings for: Compliance, Complaints, Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Engineering, Finance, and Materials Controls/SC/Cycle counts.
Provide and maintain feedback system to all shift supervisors and associates on production department(s) quality, waste and productivity performance on a regular and timely basis.
Initiates, drives change, and holds all cell associates accountable to ensure that short and long term SQDCT goals for the cell lines / areas under responsibility are being met.
Resolves issues for the cell lines in a timely manner, while displaying servant leadership. Manages the team in line with BD values.
Coordinates effective and disciplined TMS (Tiered Management System), cycles for the lines/areas and sets the 24-hour direction for the cell team.
Support continuous improvement activities by participating on CI teams, blitzes, 5S teams, Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives. Identify and drive Cost Improvement Projects to create a project funnel and prioritization of resources to meet Cost to Win goals.
Champions the execution and development of all associates in CSD (Continuous Skills Development) and Standard Work for all job positions within the Cell structure.
Supports and ensures focus on the 4Ms + E to drive improvement activities
- Conducts scheduled Quarterly Connects and annual performance reviews of direct reports and ensures every individual has an active career development plan in place.
- Ensures that this same process is conducted with all hourly associates of direct reports.
Leads DTM (Daily Team Maintenance), activities being responsible for creating and/or facilitating DTM work processes.
Facilitates other BDPS/CI activities and programs within the product line.
Collaborate with Logistics to establish production schedules and monitors delivery performance versus schedule while creating action plans for improvement.
Works with associates to resolve issues and concerns; involves HR when needed.
Builds own mastery in the operation, maintenance, continuous improvement, people management and BDPS.
Fosters and acquires expertise in facilitating problem solving via the 10 Step DMAIC process and takes an active role in training the entire cell team in this same methodology to drive root cause and corrective/preventative actions. Technical/Leadership.
Spends more than 50% of time in the Gemba, (on the production floor), overseeing activities within the product line and interacting with all associates to help them with the resources, knowledge, and tools to win every day. Set the example for Servant Leadership for the entire cell team. Leadership

Minimum Requirements
BA/BS Degree required (Science, Industrial management, Business, Engineering Degree preferred)
Minimum of 1 years manufacturing supervisory experience required
5 years of manufacturing experience in a highly automated environment required
Management experience with people leaders, hourly production associates and engineering / technical associates preferred
