The main scope of this role is to provide technical and administrative support for the delivery of digital project activities across the sectors IT/OT, Infrastructure and Data security

Working within the Manufacturing Information Systems Team you will support the implementation of the BD Swindon “Industrial IoT” (Industry 4.0) technologies on selected processes primarily around eDHR & MES. To implement automated data collection for a variety of industrial equipment, and utilize this data for advanced visualisation dashboards, automated predictive analytics, and machine learning models.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

  • Developing a functional knowledge of the local Manufacturing environment, supporting the key driver goals, short and long-term roadmaps, business processes and key personnel.

  • Working with Original Equipment Manufacturers and BD Project Teams, implement connections / infrastructure from Manufacturing and Quality Control Hardware to acquire data to pass into the Electronic Device History Record (eDHR), Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Machine Learning platforms.

  • Establish systems configuration, data connectivity to Equipment, typically: All designated measuring equipment, integrated or stand alone, Robots, Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM), Assembly Machine PLCs, Injection Moulding Machines, stand-alone sensor arrays, connections will primarily be made via FTP, OPC and FT Linx.

  • Generate all documentation associated with the implementation of machine equipment code changes to enable data acquisition; this includes change control, monitoring trials and software validation

  • Develop and refine Supervised Machine Learning models using an iterative approach, analysing results to identify key process parameters and control limits. Create visualizations, alerts, and notifications in conjunction with models to predictively monitor process control and performance.

  • Collaborate with MFG Engineer, Quality department and Continuous Improvement teams, in utilizing data to drive problem solving and process optimization. Manage data collection from automated processes and Industrial machines.

  • Apply solutions to a variety of hardware and software technologies and implementing protocols. Assess technical applications and identify the best integration technologies.

  • Delivering effective system solutions via Java / Python programming, Ethernet IP, network architecture, and cyber security.

  • Working knowledge of data integrity and validation best practices.

  • Present technical concepts to non-technical associates.

  • Provide direct support for Manufacturing Systems Project Engineer activities.
