You will join a small team, where your actions can make a difference and you will have the possibility to progress and develop your skills in this role. Your work will involve an introduction to a diverse range of tooling designs and complex hot runner solutions . You will be responsible for the maintenance of the injection moulding tooling.
BD Swindon is a manufacturing site in Wiltshire with approx. 500 employees and it is part of the Pharmaceutical Systems group (PS) (https://www.pharmaceuticalonline.com/ecommcenter/bd) . We support the management of diabetes. Our products on site are for example: Vystra - dosing pen, Physioject - self-injection and other drug delivery systems.
About the role
Are you an Injection Moulding Tooling Technician or Toolroom Technician or Toolmaker with experience within the MedTech, Pharma industry or other High Cavitation cleanroom moulding? If you are then read on!
Under the direction of the Senior Tooling Engineer and working as a member of the Production team, you will be responsible for owning & coordinating mould tooling activities across the Manufacturing Moulding teams and drive department & production KPI’s. You will be responsible for tool/mould maintenance and repairs.
In addition, you will manage, lead and provide technical support for the development, NPI design, specification, purchase, installation and qualification of Plastic Injection Mould tools and equipment.
Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on all tooling-related matters within the Swindon Site.
Coach and development of Setters, Technicians, and Engineers on all mould tool activities and explore new technologies for plastic injection moulding and process development
Support selection and management of equipment suppliers
Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, cGMP, health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, and practices through appropriate communication, training, and education of sound quality assurance principles.
Ensure the smooth transfer of project knowledge and technologies from engineering to production.
Provide support and involvement in the BDPS program. (Kaizen, Continuous Improvement)
The successful candidate will ideally have appropriate qualifications in Injection Moulding processing or/and Injection Moulding Tooling maintenance.
HND/C&G qualification or Apprenticeship
Currently working in the position of a Tooling Technician with a plastics/injection moulding focus and maintenance.
You will ideally have experience in root cause analysis focusing on process and tooling, and working knowledge of hot runner systems & mould assemblies.
You will be able to demonstrate strong and clear accountability/responsibility for the successful and accurate completion of designated tasks.
Be a strong communicator with competency in Microsoft & SAP.
