Job Description Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join the Cell & Biomarker Preservation (CBP) division in the Nordics.
In this role, the successful Business Development Manager will be responsible for the development of the Cell & Biomarker Preservation (CBP) market in the Nordics. The BDM reports to the Pre-Analytical Systems (PAS)Team Leader in the Nordics and is an essential part in driving future growth in the Nordics. In addition to being part of the PAS Nordic organization, the BDM will work closely with her/his European colleagues to share learnings and success stories.
BD’s Cell & Biomarker Preservation (CBP) portfolio contains a focused range of products that combine innovation with BD’s decades of experience in cutting-edge products for clinical sampling and analysis instrumentation. Addressing varied requirements in cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular diagnostics and liquid biopsy, each product provides a quality solution to multiple applications.
In this role, the Business Development Manager will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the relevant scientific fields, the Clinical Research Market (CRM), as well as BD products (including other products in the Vacutainer® range), and effectively leverage this to advance a sales opportunity. The Business Development manager will manage key accounts as well as Baltic and Icelandic distributors and must be able to build and sustain productive relationships with these valued customers.
The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset and be enthusiastic, driven and self-reliant. They will prepare, present and demonstrate the technical aspects of BD’s innovative solutions, as they relate directly to customer needs.
The CBP portfolio consists of:
PreAnalytiX products (including PAXgene Blood RNA & DNA tubes) for molecular diagnostics
Plasma Preparation Tube (PPT) for molecular and biochemistry applications
Cell Preparation Tubes (CPT) for cell culture
P100 Plasma Protein Preservation tube for protein analysis
P800 system tubes for metabolic disease analysis
ccfDNA tube for Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing, liquid biopsy & molecular diagnostics
As a Business Development Manager the successful candidate will deliver profitable sales growth through effective management of key accounts and expansion of our business and customer base in target segments. You will develop, educate and grow the market for CBP products in Nordics to achieve sales. In addition, you will understand, develop and grow customer contacts and sales projects in the Pharma/CRO/Academia/Biobank and other potential segments.
As part of this role you will implement sales-supportive marketing actions in close cooperation with the European Marketing team including attending relevant exhibitions and seminars. You will also organize and perform workshops and seminars in academia and pharma sites and different local congresses/fairs to promote CBP products. The Business Development Manager will also provide input into marketing on customer needs, product improvements, new product or service ideas and competitive activity.
In addition, you will build and maintain KOL network relative to BD Clinical Research in Nordics; develop and leverage BD resources for lead generation and joint marketing campaigns and provide thorough reporting and good forecasting.
We are looking for a candidate with an advanced understanding of one or more of the following research or diagnostics fields:
Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT), Virology, Oncology, Immunology, and Pathology.
Understanding of protein separation and purification technologies including immunoassay, chromatography, electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry is advantageous.
Educated to a BSc degree within Life Sciences or equivalent, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate functional sales skills within a commercial environment. Previous professional experiences within the research, life science or laboratory environment or similar disciplines/relevant are advantageous, especially within the Life Sciences or Molecular Diagnostics arena.
You should have the ability to work autonomously, and be capable of independently generating, prioritising and completing work. We are looking for a clear and precise communicator, with good listening skills, and the confidence to communicate to every audience, including experts in the field. In addition you should have strong analytical skills, with applicability to managing and growing sales and development of annual business plans.
The successful candidate should bring a willingness to travel extensively in the Nordic region, and occasionally the rest of Europe. The amount of travelling days: 80-120 days/year, to do customer visits but also conferences, internal and external meetings, exhibitions including occasional overnight stays.
The successful candidate must be fluent in at least one Nordic language as well as English.
