Summary:

The PleurX Patient Navigator will be responsible for interacting with patients, physicians, clinical staff, DME (durable medical equipment) providers and insurance providers. The main objective for the PleurX Patient Navigator is to facilitate a streamlined process for the patient and physician post catheter placement. This role will also be responsible for aiding the patient in obtaining drainage supplies, which involves working with insurance providers and with DME suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Connecting with patients who are about to have a PleurX catheter placed in either their pleural or peritoneal cavity, and helping them understand what to expect. Guide the patients to call or receive a call from our patient-direct DME who will ultimately supply the patients with their drainage supplies

  • Provide support to physicians and other clinical staff to understand how to complete the prescription form correctly and help them understand the importance of completing it right the first time.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; BA degree preferred

  • Previous experience in working with patients and physicians in a customer service or call center environment OR previous experience working with insurance payments and reimbursement

  • Prior exposure to elements of HIPAA certification a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Exhibit compassion towards customers and physicians
