Summary

Staff Engineer, Packaging will be responsible for Content Sterile and Sterile Fluid-Path packaging project support. Minimum 10 years technical experience in medical device and/or pharmaceutical packaging is desired. Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, or equivalent degree in related field required. International and domestic travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of packaging Engineering principles and techniques

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of legal, regulatory and quality requirements

  • Independently or as lead, designs, prototypes and qualifies complex new packaging concepts in accordance with cGMP’s

  • Independently or as lead, evaluates and improves complex existing packaging concepts

  • Independently or as lead, identifies, analyzes and specified complex or custom packaging materials and equipment

  • Directs external resource/contractors as required

  • Has depth and breadth of experience in own job family; integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities

  • Applies in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations

  • Acts as a key contributor in a complex environment

  • May lead teams or projects; shares expertise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, or equivalent degree/experience in related field required

  • Minimum 6-8 years technical experience with medical device and/or pharmaceutical packaging

  • Experience managing portfolios from multiples disciplines, multiples plants with a variety of objectives

  • Ability to lead team toward operational objectives

  • Aptitude to contribute to strategic goal-setting for department/business unit

  • Expertise in medical device packaging, test methods/standards, processes and related equipment

  • Advanced medical device packaging system development for flexible and rigid packaging applications

  • Advanced packaging system verification and validation experience

  • Advanced experience with statistics and design of experiments

  • Through knowledge of the following standards: ISO 13485, ISO 11607 and ISO 14971
