I. Department Overview:
The STS department is responsible for developing and maintaining commercial grade software products, that are complying and supportive of the overall architectural and product strategy. Utilizing best practices within the industry, as well as the currently defined technology stack, this department is responsible for delivering high quality, highly stable, and robust applications that perform to present and future expectations.
II. Purpose:
The production database administrator is primary responsible for protecting corporate data assets and ensuring we hit defined SLAs and delivery deadlines via the execution and monitoring of backups, troubleshooting service outages, resolving database performance issues and ensuring the security of the system. This role will work closely with the development and QA teams to ensure that we can release and maintain our products.
III. Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
Owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests
Ensuring the Performance and Stability of the RDBMS platforms
Providing, reviewing and resolving service related alerts/reports for maintenance, capacity, performance, ETL status
Diagnose and resolve database performance issues.
Proactively monitor the system
Deploy database change scripts in multiple environments
Help evaluate new technologies for inclusion in the environment
IV. Position Requirements:
Education or Equivalent:
- BS in Computer Science or Information Systems or Equivalent Work Experience
Experience or Equivalent:
2-4 years’ experience working on relational database platform with emphasis on VLDBs.
On-call deployment and troubleshooting experience
Experience with database design principles, including normalization and aggregation, for both on-line and data warehouse schemas to support the needs of application developers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Database Performance and Tuning
Hardware analysis (Disk I/O, Network I/O, Processors, Memory)
Database Configuration Management
Database Capacity Planning and Monitoring
Troubleshooting
Wait State Analysis
Database Backups/Restores Technologies
Implementing New Database servers in a Virtual Environment
Database Design Skills including Normalization and Data Warehouse design
Strong TSQL skills
Strong analytical skills
Structured Troubleshooting Skills
SQL Query Performance Tuning experience
Log Shipping, Mirroring and Always-on technologies
Replication
Experience with SentryOne and other 3rd party Monitoring Tools
Experience in the healthcare industry, a plus
Toolset :
Microsoft SQL Server 2014 thru 2019
Microsoft SQL Server 2017 Reporting Services (SSRS)
Knowledge and experience with Transact SQL (stored procedure, trigger and constraint development)
Azure Database
MS-Windows
Physical/Mental Requirements:
Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Ability to analyze complex application and business operational issues.

The Production DBA will be additionally responsible for the following tasks:
Ensuring appropriate and detailed documentation
Supporting application developers
Estimation and timely completion of tasks
Following quality assurance processes
