Job Description Summary
In this role, the Business Development Manager will demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the relevant scientific fields, the Clinical Research Market (CRM), as well as BD products (including other products in the Vacutainer® range), and effectively leverage this to advance a sales opportunity. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, driven and self-reliant. They will prepare, present and demonstrate the technical aspects of BD’s innovative solutions, as they relate directly to customer needs.
Main Role and Responsibilities:
The key elements:
Develop, educate and grow the market for CBP products in The Benelux to achieve sales and GP targets
Build up good knowledge on products and potential markets, with particular focus on Pharma /CROs/ Academia and Biobanks.
Develop and grow customer contacts and sales projects in the Pharma/CRO/Academia segments.
Optimize sales processes related to sales projects - sensing of potentials, gathering of relevant information, follow-up, and closing.
Implement sales-supportive marketing actions in close cooperation with the Benelux and European Marketing Managers including attending relevant exhibitions and seminars.
Organize and perform workshops and seminars in academia and pharma sites to promote CBP products.
Provide input into marketing on customer needs, product improvements, new product or service ideas and competitive activity.
Consolidate and develop KOL advocacy relative to BD Clinical Research market products.
Develop and leverage BD resources for lead generation and joint marketing campaigns.
Provide thorough reporting and good forecasting. Person Specification and job-specific skills:
MSc or PhD in a related science discipline or equivalent experience.
Advanced understanding of one or more of the following research or diagnostics fields required:
Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT), Virology, Oncology, Immunology, and Pathology.
Understanding of protein separation and purification technologies including immunoassay, chromatography, electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry is advantageous.
Dynamic and driven, with a passion for new experiences, a willingness to learn and an enquiring mind.
A clear and precise communicator, with good listening skills, and the confidence to communicate to every audience, including experts in the field.
Demonstrated functional sales skills, particularly with regard to time management, customer follow-up, and account management.
Proven sales success is advantageous.
Self-motivated individual who can plan and act autonomously.
Excellent project management skills.
Exemplifies the BD Core Values.
Strong financial and analytical skills, with applicability to business plan development.
Ability to work autonomously, and be capable of independently generating, prioritising and completing work.
Proven track record working in a complex environment with a multitude of geographically-spread stakeholders.
Experience and ability to work in a matrix organization.
Willingness to travel extensively in The Benelux region, and occasionally the rest of Europe Experience:
Extensive experience of working in a laboratory environment although other disciplines/relevant experience will be considered.
Demonstrable sales experience within the Life Sciences or Molecular Diagnostics arena is a plus.
Experience selling to academic laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or CRO’s highly preferred
