The Market Development Manager, Laboratory Solutions is responsible for defining the business strategy for the Lab Automation, Data Management and Identification and Susceptibility Testing (ID/AST) portfolios and translating the strategy into tactical marketing programs that deliver tangible differentiation and value creation for the portfolio in the Canadian market.
Additionally, the Market Development Manager is responsible for leading the market development activities related to the portfolio and being a subject matter on their portfolio able to support the sales team in front of the customer.
This role is home office based, 20-40% travel within Canada and the US
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management of the Laboratory Solutions product lines, portfolio includes BD Kiestra, BD Phoenix, BD Synapsys and Bruker MALDI
Responsible for providing inputs into financial budgeting/forecasting and demand planning, and GP analyses
Responsible for the launch process for managed products lines, including completing launch plans, pricing, promotion, and ensuring regional readiness to launch
Responsible for identifying market trends, competition behaviors, and customer needs to maximize business opportunities and minimize potential threats
Developing value propositions that resonate with customers’ needs and incorporate customer centric messaging in marketing activities
Developing and executing against annual marketing plan and long-term strategic plans to respond to the needs of the Canadian market
Support and participation in sales planning, opportunity management and customer engagements
Responsible for ensuring that the Canadian sales team has appropriate tools, training and support required to enable sales and actively participate in sales presentations when requested.
Developing and leveraging relationships with the global platform to ensure Canadian needs are met and to provide input for new product developments
Driving market development activities, including development of a strong Key Opinion Leader (KOL) network, engaging stakeholders outside the clinical microbiology lab
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree required (microbiology or similar preferred), MBA or MSc/PhD is an asset
3+ years sales experience within the diagnostics industry, experience with laboratory automation equipment preferred
Marketing and product launch experience an asset
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen
Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
Ability to interact effectively with all management levels
Ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines, set priorities and follow through
Strong Organization Skills and Entrepreneurial spirit
Bilingualism (English and French) an asset
Must be able and willing to travel 20-40% travel within Canada and the US
