The Business Manager has full P&L accountability for BD’s Biosciences business (BDB) in Poland (circa USD 7 million). S/he provides direct leadership to the BDB Sales and Application Support team, partners with Marketing and Customer Service associates and is responsible for identifying growth opportunities and implementation plans to realize the opportunities.

The position sits at the center of BD's matrix organization and requires close collaboration with and coordination between the CE BDB teams and BD Poland businesses.

This role has a dual direct reporting line to the Country General Manager Poland and the BDB Business Director CE, with around 10 team members.

In this role you will be responsible for:

Business & Marketing Strategy:

  • With the guidance from CGM Poland, CBL BDB CE and BDB CE Marketing builds, communicates and engages her/his team in the vision and strategy for BDB Poland

  • Captures and evaluates market trends, needs and opportunities in the country, recommends and drive implementation of respective commercial priorities/solution.

  • Owns the development and implementation of marketing and sales planning. Supply to regional market development activities.

  • Engages the organization around the vision and objectives.

  • Further develops the organizational capabilities in order to meet ambitious business targets.

  • Develops an organization that will adopt change, new initiatives and will be ready for future challenges.

Strategy Execution / Commercial Implementation (P&L accountability):

  • Ensures the development of ambitious but achievable operating plans and budgets for BDB in Poland

  • Is accountable for overall BDB Poland performance to budget.

  • Provides effective business and financial reporting to CE and Poland leaders.

  • Leads the implementation of marketing and sales plans, new product launch plans, pricing, working in close collaboration with European business teams to ensure effective use of resources and capabilities; structured approach for opportunity management (including opportunity staging/BD WoS) and bring to bear CRM tool (SFDC).

  • Monitors and coordinates short- and long-term market and business trends and ensures translation into reliable short, medium and long-term plans (from operational forecasting to market development).

  • Proactively supervises the financial performance of the business and any deviations from critical project plans. Ensures implementation of any vital contingency plans and/or corrective actions to effectively mitigate risks.

Customer relationship

  • Develops appropriate understanding of local customers’ needs through ongoing interaction with key accounts and through industry leaders.

  • Develops/keeps contacts with professionals as well as with key opinion leaders.

  • Maintains contacts with key decision makers in the purchasing groups.

  • Leads contacts with governmental institutions and key professional trade association and organizations.

Team and People Leadership

  • Embodies and lives the BD values.

  • Provides leadership and coaches the BDB country organization to deliver results, improve skills and lead ongoing change.

  • Develops and implements an organizational plan which defines the capabilities vital to support the business in the medium to long-term, ensures that the organization remains structurally flexible and competitive and capable of adapting to change.

  • Focus on attracting, retaining, motivating & developing talent.

  • Builds own succession plan, and identifies and develops succession plans for critical roles.

To be successful in this role, you should be able to demonstrate:

Business Acumen

  • Demonstrates the ability to integrate an understanding of sound business and financial fundamentals with in-depth knowledge of our market and industry.

  • Will have more than 10 years of sales, marketing and business management experience including at least 3 years with full P&L accountability. Sound understanding of selling process and CRM systems (preferably SFDC).

  • Will have a track record of success in the medical devices market and / or preferably in the BioSciences field, built on an extensive network of KOL and scientific societies

  • Has strong business ethics.

  • Proficiency in Polish & English is crucial;

  • Ability and willingness to undertake travels and on international trips.
