The Associate Director of Marketing Communications for BDI Surgery will be responsible for bringing BDI Surgery to the next level, through the development and implementation of a robust omni-channel marketing strategy that is well aligned with the ever-evolving needs of our customers. This individual must possess the ability to understand traditional marketing channels, the latest trends in digital marketing, as well as partnering with internal stakeholders, within a large global matrixed organization, and external stakeholders to ensure the strategic priorities of the surgery business are achieved. The areas of focus for this role will include evolving the strategic priorities, empowering strong teams, developing processes and systems to maximize efficiencies, reduce redundancy and report key performance metrics.

Responsibilities of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Lead and manage the Surgery Marketing Communications strategy, working with the US and Global marketing managers while providing insight into the platform business plans

  • Develop annual Marketing Communications business plan and manage the marketing communications budget and resources to deliver divisional goals

  • Oversee the execution of all marketing communication programs

  • Partner with other BD business units to identify and share best practices

  • Align Surgery with corporate brand policies and initiatives and assure compliance

  • Collaborate with Meetings/Tradeshows team, Sales and Marketing to develop comprehensive programs for a broad range of Surgery sponsored meetings such as: National Sales Meeting, Summer Sales Meeting (as needed), Product Launch Meetings, Advisory Boards, President’s Club incentive trip, etc.

  • Design and develop business unit presence and programs for National, Regional and Local Conferences, etc.

  • Collaborate to develop business unit omni-channel campaigns and strategies in concert with advertising agencies and product marketing teams

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to create strategies and develop omni-channel solutions that assure a consistent customer experience, increase customer engagement, and positively impact sales

  • Maintain strong relationships with creative agencies, designers, exhibit houses and other third-party vendors to ensure appropriate work is completed to the standards required

  • Develop and coach direct reports, provide regular feedback and opportunities for professional development as appropriate for the individual’s growth

  • Reviewing all advertising promo materials through regulatory review system (Veeva)

  • Develop, automate, optimize, and monitor key metrics to track success and drive investment decisions

  • Develop and implement processes for prioritizing requests from internal stakeholders

  • Streamline process for global lead generation communication

  • Make recommendations for optimizing current software solutions

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, marketing communications or similar required

  • Minimum of 8 years of Marketing Communications experience, preferably in the medical device industry

  • Previous experience leading a team of direct reports

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of advertising, promotion, meetings, tradeshows, digital marketing, marketing communications planning, development, and implementation

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to oversee multiple programs and projects concurrently

  • Ability to work with in a dynamic, matrix environment

  • Ability to travel up to 30%
