Job Description Summary
Our Advanced Repair and Reconstructive (ARR) Platform is seeking a Senior Director of Global Marketing to lead our largest and most complex global business, Hernia and Abdominal Wall Repair, as well as our cross-BU multi-year Hernia Transformation (HT) initiative. BD is currently world-wide market leader in this space and is dedicated to improving surgical outcomes for our patients and healthcare facilities. Our HT initiative is focused on upgrading clinical practice and transforming today’s standard of care from utilizing permanent material to BD’s fully bioresorbable and regenerative portfolio, improving patient care and quality of life, while delivering long-term sustainable Platform growth.
This experienced, results-driven, people leader will directly lead a dynamic team of marketing professionals and indirectly lead multiple workstream teams, leaders, and program management associates to successfully execute our HT initiative. In addition, this leader will actively participate on ARR Platform’s core leadership team, working collaboratively cross-functionally to ensure success of near-term and long-term business objectives and Platform growth plans. This role will report directly to the VP/GM of AR&R Platform.

SUMMARY

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
P&L responsibility for Hernia and Abdominal Wall business, with global revenue >$600M
Sets and delivers downstream commercial strategy, tactical planning, and execution to ensure achievement of budgets, ASR plans, and longer-term sustainable growth
Maintains deep understanding of market, customers, competitors, and technologies
Develops marketing strategy and marketing collateral and deploys marketing plans/campaigns, in partnership with regions
Partners with supply-chain on product-line level global demand forecast and manages product-level supply continuity, including resolution of allocations and backorder issues
Partners with relevant functional counterparts to execute on day-to-day activities
Responsibility for driving hernia and Ab Wall innovation from early-stage ideas to new product development and sustaining that include line extensions, new product launch strategies, new market launches, and prioritization of funnel investments
Sets strategic direction for areas of interest and New Business Development (NBD) opportunities including new opportunity assessments with business cases
Direct leadership of a large and high performing organization that includes a Global Marketing Team, a Digital Marketing Team, Program managers, Temps/interns
Direct leadership of “Hernia Transformation” initiative, consisting of multiple, inter-dependent and cross-functional workstreams; responsible for overall program success; empowering workstreams’ strategy, tactical planning, and successful execution; ensuring strong internal communications, including monthly metrics publication, steering committee meetings and shared service team collaborations
Organizational design that ensures talent development, attraction, retention, and succession planning for the Global Marketing Team
IDEAL EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
Minimum of 12 years marketing experience in the medical device industry or a minimum of 15 years combined experience in marketing, sales, business development, and engineering in the medical device industry
Demonstrated ability to set vision, develop and implement marketing strategy, and drive successful execution
Demonstrated track record of achieving results across dynamic teams, complex business environments and matrix organizations
Strong demonstrated skills in managing diverse teams of associates; prior experience in people management, coaching, developing and guiding others; proven track record in recruiting, retaining, and developing key talent
Strong financial analytic skills, including P&L Management.
Global Marketing knowledge and experience including market development.
Ability to work as a strong team contributor
Desire for future advancement into executive roles
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%
